What We Do

Poplin is the first and largest peer-to-peer marketplace for laundry. Our customers tap the app and outsource their laundry. For them, it’s life without laundry, because we hacked it out of existence. But Poplin solves a second problem, too, which is that more and more people of varying backgrounds want to work from home. Luckily, most people have an underutilized washer/dryer, which, when combined with Poplin’s Laundry Pro app, provides the first-ever manual labor work-from-home gig in the world.

Our Progress

Perfect product market fit drove a 100x surge in users & revenue and double-digit MoM growth over the past few years. In 2021, Poplin scaled to 500+ markets throughout the United States. In March 2022 we closed a $10m seed round which included VC investments from Headline, Origin Ventures, Starting Line VC, Ludlow Ventures, and Clean Ventures, as well as notable angel investments from Max Mullen, co-founder of Instacart, Steven Galanis, Co-founder and CEO of Cameo, Joanna Riley, CEO and co-founder of Censia, and Rob Chesnut, Chief Ethics Officer for airbnb. Significant growth continued in 2022 and 2023.

What You’ll Do

You won’t just test features—you’ll obsess over the details, stress-test our product, and make sure every user interaction is smooth, intuitive, and bug-free. Your mission: ensure the highest possible quality of our web and mobile apps by pushing every release through rigorous manual testing. You'll partner with engineers, PMs, and designers to deliver flawless user experiences. If something breaks, you’ll catch it first.

Here’s How You’ll Leave Your Mark

Be the Last Line of Defense: Execute manual tests across devices and platforms to ensure our app behaves beautifully under real-world conditions.
Hunt Down the Glitches: Log and track issues using our defect management system, and follow them through to resolution.
Write the Playbook: Create and maintain clear, detailed test cases, plans, and scripts—your testing docs are your legacy.
Zoom In, Zoom Out: From big-picture business goals to the tiniest UI quirk, ensure every detail meets expectations and acceptance criteria.
Think Like a User: Conduct exploratory, functional, regression, and usability testing that simulates how real people interact with Poplin.
Collaborate Like a Pro: Join forces with developers, designers, and PMs to clarify features and user behavior. QA is a team sport.
Recreate the Mystery: Set up test environments and reproduce bugs users report in the wild. Sherlock Holmes would be proud.
Make it Better: Share feedback not just on bugs, but on how we build, ship, and improve quality from the ground up.

What You’ll Bring to the Table

5+ years of hands-on experience in manual software testing.
Deep understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and best practices.
Proven experience testing both web and mobile apps across multiple browsers and devices.
Ability to write crisp, effective test cases and documentation.
Proficiency with defect tracking tools (e.g. Jira, Trello, ClickUp).
Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams—where priorities shift and speed matters.
Strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering pixel-perfect quality.
Solid analytical skills with the mindset of a problem-solver.
Experience with test case management tools like TestRail, Xray, or Zephyr.
Basic understanding of APIs and NoSQL is a bonus.
You’re organized, self-directed, and thrive in fast-paced environments.
Work schedule that allows for a 9am Central Time standup and overlaps with Central Standard Time by 5 hours
