Intro and job overview:
The primary responsibilities of the Tax Accountant are to ensure transactional tax returns/payments are filed/remitted in a timely and accurate manner, review invoices for the determination of accurate transactional tax, assist in the preparation of global income tax provision and returns, receive and index tax-related mail received, research tax notices and work with supervisor for resolution, and assist with other tax department responsibilities.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Global transactional tax (Sales Tax, GST, VAT):
Prepare data to send to service provider for US sales and use tax return compliance
Prepare and file international transactional tax returns
Review sales and purchase invoices to confirm applicable tax
Review purchase invoices to determine applicable use tax
Reconcile transactional tax GL accounts
Provide support to internal and external sales tax inquiries
Global income tax:
Assist with the preparation of global tax provisions
Gather required information for global income tax return preparation, including credits and incentives
Review tax return calculations prepared by external advisors
Prepare provision-to-return analysis
Prepare quarterly estimated tax payments and extension payment calculations
Other items:
Work with the team to ensure proper cash forecasting for tax payments and refunds
Update and maintain tax calendars by legal entity
Ensure global tax returns and payments are processed in a timely and accurate manner
Prepare journal entries
Resolves notices and assessments from tax authorities
Assist in tax planning and research
Performs ad-hoc projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications:
Basic accounting knowledge
Motivated to grow and learn tax technical knowledge
Enjoys collaborating with the tax team and across the company.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Organizational and time management skills
Handles and safeguards confidential information and sensitive information
Ability to execute instructions and to request clarification when needed
Degree in Accounting or Taxation
Proficient in MS Office Suite
