About the Role
 

Second Nature is looking for an experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of DevOps principles and practices, extensive experience with cloud platforms, automation, CI/CD pipelines, and a passion for continuous improvement. 
 

As the Lead DevOps Engineer, you will drive the DevOps strategy, and ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our infrastructure.
 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the DevOps roadmap, including automation, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and monitoring strategies.

  • Drive the adoption of DevOps best practices and tools across the organization.

  • Collaborate with various teams to integrate DevOps processes into the overall software development lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure AWS cloud infrastructure.

  • Manage and optimize the performance, availability, and cost-effectiveness of infrastructure.

  • Ensure compliance with security best practices, including implementing and managing security measures and policies.

  • Oversee the design and implementation of automated deployment pipelines for various environments.

  • Identify opportunities for automation within the infrastructure and software development processes.

  • Continuously improve and optimize CI/CD pipelines to enhance efficiency and reduce time-to-market.

  • Implement and manage monitoring tools and systems to ensure proactive detection of issues.

  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on DevOps initiatives, project status, and system performance.
     

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience in DevOps or related role

  • 3+ years in a leadership role

  • Strong expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.).

  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, etc.).

  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).

  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Understanding of networking, security best practices, and system administration.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.

  • Certification in relevant DevOps or cloud technologies.

  • Experience with microservices architecture and serverless computing.

  • Knowledge of database management and optimization (SQL/NoSQL).
