Sr. Product Designer
SessionLab is the leading platform for workshop facilitation and process design. Our mission is to empower people to create change. We do that by building technology that enables better facilitation. More than 200,000 professionals use our Software-as-a-Service product to design and deliver meaningful workshops.
SessionLab is looking for a Senior Product Designer to help us create delightful experiences for our customers.
You’ll work together with our CTO, CEO, product manager, developers, and our current designers to take our product UX and design to the next level, as well as coordinate with our marketing to ensure our brand consistency is maintained throughout the whole user experience. You will be participating in all stages of the design process and will have a real impact on the product.
We are a bootstrapped and profitable software business, headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia, and with a fully remote 13-person team (team members currently in Sweden, Hungary, Croatia, UK, Portugal, Latvia, Italy, Montenegro, Denmark, Czechia, and the Netherlands). Therefore, we are looking for somebody who is self-motivated, independent, and comfortable working in a remote-first environment.
What we are looking for
Significant experience designing modern, collaborative web applications.
The ability to explain their work, process, and decisions clearly, while actively seeking feedback to improve.
Lead and conduct user research and usability testing to inform design decisions.
Collaborate closely with the product manager, developers, and other designers to deliver high-quality user experiences.
Eager to explore and understand technical challenges to develop well-informed solutions.
An outcome-oriented mindset, focused on solving problems rather than just building features, with the ability to quantitatively measure whether the solutions effectively address the problem.
The skills to build, maintain, and evolve a cohesive design system, including iconography, colors, and components ensure brand consistency across product and marketing materials.
Expertise in transforming unclear problems into clear, effective solutions through prototyping and detailed interaction design.
The ability to break down complex designs into smaller, manageable improvements for gradual implementation.
A preference for action over perfection, with a strong drive to deliver quickly, learn from feedback, and provide value.
A willingness to take ownership and responsibility for their work.
Advanced skills in using Figma to create prototypes, test them with users, and provide clear specifications for developers, as well as design system management.
Familiarity with frontend technologies (HTML, CSS) to collaborate effectively with developers.
Experience working asynchronously within a distributed team.
Experience leading and facilitating workshops.
A location within the UTC-3 to UTC+3 time zone range.
Advantages (not a must but a big plus):
Previous experience with B2B SaaS products and working in small companies.
Web programming—while we do not expect our designers to write code, having some experience in doing so is useful to understand constraints when designing.
Experience in working with Canva to create marketing assets.
UX copywriting experience.
Working with WordPress (and Elementor) to modify designs of landing pages
What will I be doing?
To give you a perspective of where we are now: we have a niche product that has a significant and diverse user base. The product is more than 10 years old while some of the core features have recently been redesigned. We are balancing the improvement of existing features with the expanding needs of our users and the market changes (e.g. popularisation of AI).
This is where you come in: We need somebody who can work full-time to help us discover opportunities for product expansion and do hands-on work to improve our existing features and keep our UX modern and valuable to our users.
In more practical terms (with recent examples):
Design new features and improvements (see examples).
Regularly analyze the feedback from our users to detect opportunities and frustrations that need addressing.
Conducting regular interviews (e.g. Jobs-To-Be-Done style) or studies with our users to evaluate our solutions and investigate opportunities.
Work with developers to improve the maturity of our design system and its use across our product.
Why is this great for me?
Opportunity to work on scaling a product in a fast-growing market
Your role and responsibility will grow as our company grows
Work remotely and create your own schedule (we believe in trust and autonomy)
Stable working environment that values work-life balance
Motivated co-workers
A chance to travel a couple of times per year to live company meetings
Open-minded working culture where we encourage sharing opinions and feedback
You are a strategic, hands-on designer ready to make an impact and provide great user experiences 🙂 🙂
