Position Overview:

As the Technical Product Manager at SignWell, you’ll drive the roadmap for our eSign Platform and API offerings. You will help bridge the gap between business goals and technical implementation, ensuring we deliver secure, intuitive, and compliant solutions. 

In addition, you’ll serve as the internal API expert, supporting Sales (like a sales engineer) and assisting customers with technical API implementation. You’ll also lead efforts to build a thriving developer community, create technical documentation, and drive API adoption. 

In this role, you’ll balance strategic vision with hands-on execution, including thorough quality assurance (QA) of features, ensuring a seamless experience for users and developers. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Startup Environment & Execution

    • Drive rapid iterations with minimal process overhead, focusing on shipping valuable features quickly.

    • Collaborate directly with our small, nimble team, where everyone is hands-on.

    • Make quick, data-informed decisions without getting bogged down in excessive documentation or meetings.

    • Balance strategic thinking with tactical execution, including hands-on QA testing and technical support when needed.

    • Help maintain our efficient, low-bureaucracy environment while we scale.

  • Product Vision and Roadmap 

    • Work within product management to execute the roadmap for SignWell’s eSign products, SaaS, and API and ensure timely delivery of features and updates. 

    • Collaborate with the executive team to contribute to our products' strategic vision and longer-term goals. 

  • Quality Assurance 

    • Conduct thorough testing of new features, ensuring SaaS and API functionality, workflows, and integrations meet high-quality standards. 

    • Review edge cases and user scenarios for technical features like API endpoints, workflows and integrations.

    • Collaborate with the engineering team to identify and address bugs, ensuring a seamless user experience.

    • Create and manage test plans to validate feature functionality before release. 

  • Technical Feasibility Analysis

    • Assess proposed features, integrations, and enhancements for technical viability and complexity.

    • Work with engineering leads to validate design approaches, estimate effort, and identify potential risks.

  • Requirements Gathering

    • Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders (Sales, Customer Success, Support) to capture user needs and translate them into actionable technical specifications.

    • Champion Prioritization: Evaluate features based on business impact, user demand, and technical dependencies, ensuring a healthy balance between short-term deliverables and long-term vision.

  • Internal API Expert & Sales-Support Engineering Support

    • Act as the go-to technical resource for Sales, participating in demos and RFP processes to articulate API capabilities and address customer inquiries.

    • Provide hands-on support for customers and partners integrating the SignWell API, offering best practices and troubleshooting assistance.

  • API Evangelism & Community Building

    • Create and maintain comprehensive API guides, resources, and documentation to empower developers and ensure smooth integrations. 

    • Own the API onboarding process for developers, providing transparent, accessible materials and proactive support to reduce friction and accelerate integration timelines. 

    • Develop and manage a developer portal that hosts educational content and interactive tools for API adoption. 

    • Foster an ecosystem of engaged developers by organizing events (e.g., webinars, hackathons) and encouraging collaboration through forums and other platforms. 

    • Continuously improve the developer experience by gathering feedback and iterating on API offerings and onboarding assets. 

  • Collaboration with Product Management, Engineering & Design

    • Collaborate closely with our existing product manager to align priorities, share insights, and ensure the seamless execution of the product roadmap. 

    • Lead User Interface Optimization: Oversee redesign efforts to reduce friction, improve adoption, and enhance the signing experience.

    • Provide technical writing expertise by crafting clear documentation, user guides, and internal references to support the team for alignment and understanding.

  • SaaS & Third-Party Integrations

    • Technically evaluate high-impact partnership opportunities and plan native integrations with leading SaaS platforms (e.g., CRMs, project management tools, collaboration suites).

    • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure seamless data flow, consistent user experiences, and robust security standards across all integrations.

    • Monitor and optimize integration performance, proactively addressing technical challenges and user feedback.

    • Be the expert in partner APIs.

  • Performance Monitoring

    • Track and analyze product performance metrics (uptime, latency, conversions, usage patterns).

    • Iterate on the product roadmap to optimize user experience and platform performance.

  • Security & Compliance

    • Lead Compliance Initiatives: Ensure platform adherence to evolving electronic signature regulations and security mandates (ESIGN, UETA, eIDAS, GDPR).

    • Collaborate with Legal and Security teams to address data privacy concerns, implement necessary safeguards, and maintain trust with enterprise clients.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Early-Stage Startup Experience

    • Experience in early-stage environments (ideally teams of <50 people)

    • Track record of shipping products with lightweight processes

    • Comfort with ambiguity and rapid change

    • Ability to be both strategic and tactical – no task is too small

    • Proven ability to move quickly and iterate based on feedback

  • Technical Background

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).

    • Solid understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), cloud technologies, and RESTful APIs.

  • Product Management Expertise

    • Demonstrated experience leading product initiatives from concept to launch.

    • Proficient with agile methodologies and product management tools (e.g., Trello, Productboard).

  • Sales Engineering & Customer Support Aptitude

    • Experience interacting with clients to provide technical insights and drive solutions, especially in API-based integrations.

    • Ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts and tailor communication to various audiences (technical and non-technical).

  • Community Building Skills

    • Passion for developer advocacy and community engagement.

    • Track record of creating accessible documentation, hosting events, and building communities around an API or software product.

  • Analytical & Data-Driven

    • Comfortable analyzing qualitative and quantitative data to inform decisions.

    • Ability to derive actionable insights from user behaviour and product metrics.

  • Communication & Collaboration

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

    • Strong stakeholder management and conflict-resolution capabilities.

  • Problem-Solving Mindset

    • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex challenges, find creative solutions, and maintain momentum in a fast-paced environment

Nice to Have

  • E-Signature Knowledge

    • Familiarity with e-signature technologies, industry regulations (ESIGN, UETA, eIDAS), and security best practices.

    • Experience with integrating eSign solutions or document workflow systems is a plus.
