Finance Associate

About the Starknet Foundation

The Starknet Foundation is the steward of Starknet, a permissionless validity rollup designed to scale the world’s most important blockchains without compromise. Having pioneered ZK-STARK technology to scale Ethereum, we are now entering a new era as the first network to settle simultaneously on both Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Joining the Starknet Foundation now places you at the epicenter of this pivotal phase and offers a rare, ground-floor opportunity to shape how BTCFi evolves. This is a unique chance to build the first unified execution layer that turns the world’s most secure assets into productive capital, and it requires exceptional talent. We’re looking for people who think in systems, operate well in ambiguity, and are motivated by long-term impact over short-term wins. If you care about building durable foundations (technical, organizational, or ecosystem-level) and want your work to meaningfully shape how decentralized systems scale, this is the place to do it.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Finance Associate to support the day-to-day financial operations of the Foundation. This role is focused on keeping our books accurate, organized, and reliable, and supporting the finance function as transaction volume and complexity grow.

You’ll work closely with the Finance Lead and external partners (accountants, payroll providers, auditors) and play a key role in ensuring our financial data is accurate, up to date, and audit-ready. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working independently in a fast-moving, start-up environment.

This is a remote role and does not require UK residence. However, it is best suited for someone highly flexible and based in/willing to work European timezone hours, to enable close collaboration and real-time execution with the broader team.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain accurate day-to-day bookkeeping, including purchases, receipts, payments, and expense records

  • Perform regular bank and account reconciliations

  • Support month-end and year-end close activities

  • Process vendor invoices, track approvals, and maintain organized records

  • Assist with payroll inputs, expense reimbursements, and pension or benefits-related records (where applicable)

  • Support budgeting and tracking of actuals vs budget

  • Work with external accountants and auditors to provide documentation and resolve queries

  • Help document and improve finance processes and controls

  • Provide general finance and administrative support as needed

Who You Are

  • Proactive with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Prior experience in a Finance, Accounting, or Bookkeeping role

  • Strong attention to detail and a high standard for accuracy

  • Ability to manage tasks independently, refine processes, and follow through without close supervision

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

  • Adept with Excel basic accounting tools like Xero

  • Ability to work reliably in a remote, asynchronous environment

  • Interest in crypto and digital assets

  • Location: This is a remote role. We are open to location, preferably within European timezones.

Nice To Have

  • Experience with crypto/digital assets, on-chain payments, and multi-currency/international accounting

  • Experience working with external accountants or auditors

  • Background in a startup, nonprofit, or small finance team
