Job Description

   SUSE is an Open Source pioneer and market leader with a fast-paced, exciting environment at the leading edge of Enterprise Linux, container management solutions, and Edge computing.

SUSE Rancher Engineering team has attracted top talent from across the globe and continues to grow as a distributed team steeped in open-source culture. We are on a mission to support our customers to innovate everywhere, with the power of Kubernetes and we help enterprises deliver Kubernetes-as-a-Service across any infrastructure.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working on complex problems, has an analytical mind, experience with computer science concepts and development processes, and a keen interest in learning new things.


Responsibilities:

  • Writes and executes complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application; identifies and debugs, and creates solutions for issues with code and integration into application architecture.

  • Develop comprehensive test suites and strive for full automation coverage of key product features.

  • Design, build, and manage advanced automated testing frameworks.

  • Collect and investigate test requirements from QA, development, and product management teams.

  • Collaborates and communicates with management regarding software quality status, project progress, and issue resolution.

  • Represents the software QA engineering team for all phases of larger and more-complex development projects.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.

  • 6+ years of related work experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of software quality assurance, software development life cycle, test automation infrastructure and various test methodologies (writing test cases, QA process, QA frameworks).

  • Experience in writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.

  • Extended Linux knowledge in general; familiarity with Linux administration.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in working in a virtual and distributed environment. Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at management levels.

  • Fluency in languages like Python, JavaScript or Go

  • Experience in Agile process and CI/CD pipeline tools like Jenkins, Drone, Cirrus-CI, Github Actions etc.

  • Experience with Distributed systems, IaaS/PaaS (infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service).

  • Experience with containers and container orchestration (Rancher, Kubernetes, Docker).

  • Experience in UI and API testing.

  • Experience with Public Clouds

Nice to have:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) and 7+ years of related work experience.

  • Experience with automation around Public Clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure or others)

  • Experience with GKE, EKS or AKS

  • Experience with Go, Ginkgo, Bash, or Bats

  • Experience with Cypress

  • Experience with GitHub Actions

  • Experience with terraform
