Senior Illustrator & Editor

We're TeeTurtle, a rapidly growing eCommerce/consumer products company that creates nerdy toys, games, apparel, and accessories. We are passionate about creating products and content that allow our fans to express themselves and share meaningful experiences. We are passively looking for a visionary Senior Illustrator & Editor to create and edit compelling and on-brand illustrations for shirts, games, products, and other creative projects to help increase sales across all channels. This role is a full-time exempt position and reports to the Creative Director. This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in art and animation and is excited to create within the TeeTurtle and Unstable Games styles. They are both adept at illustration themselves and take great pride in guiding others in illustration through feedback and coaching as an editor of others' work. The skillset we are searching for is so unique, that we are posting this advertisement with the potential for candidates to submit samples of their illustrations as a part of the screening process! 

Job Responsibilities:

• Create compelling, on-brand artwork and appealing characters for products for various and specific audiences to help maximize sales;

• Provide visual and conceptual critiques for other artists and follow direct critiques received to help the team continuously improve;

• Follow visual guidelines in order to meet brand standards and match creative styles;

• Create and edit short animations for Kickstarter projects and other marketing materials to maximize appeal and help effectively promote TeeTurtle’s brands and products;

• Follow processes and suggest new and innovative ways they can be improved to maximize output and minimize frustration on the creative team;

• Assist in editing the work and output of other artists on the team to help eliminate roadblocks and provide style expertise;

• Create tech packs and other materials to ensure smooth prototyping and production for new products and product lines;

• Take part in special creative projects to assist other departments in the organization;

• Assist in creating and presenting training materials to help other members of the creative team learn and grow;

• Other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Art, Animation, Design or related field preferred;

• 3+ years of experience in commercial illustration or design;

• Demonstrated expertise in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator;

• Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe After Effects;

• Demonstrated strong understanding of composition, color theory, light, and form;

• Demonstrated experience of editorial management and providing strong feedback;

• Demonstrated ability to adhere to strict style guidelines across multiple brands;

• Experience creating packaging design for consumer goods preferred;

• Experience setting up files for screen printing preferred;

• Experience working in a fast-paced, start-up environment;

• Ability to push creative limits and try new things;

• Strong attention to detail;

• Strong connection to the world of nerd culture;

• Working knowledge of Trello;

• Working knowledge of Google Docs and Sheets or Microsoft Word and Excel.
