About you

You’re a Finance professional that gets a kick out of digging into the data, thinking from first principles, and delivering the best results. With 3+ years of indirect tax experience, you possess a strong foundation of indirect tax technical, analytical and compliance skills. You’re looking to join a growing company, expanding its global presence and are excited about seeing your impact on a day to day basis.

The opportunity 

The Indirect Tax Manager will be responsible for US Sales/Use tax and International VAT compliance. This includes preparing and filing State, Provincial and Local tax returns and payment processing, while ensuring accurate and timely filing mandates are met for each state, province, and country. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with tax audits, including communication with the taxation authorities, management of audit process, evaluating and filing appeals, gathering internal and external data, working with internal and external business unit contacts, legal counsel and subject matter experts as needed, as well as documentation of issues and resolution

  • Designing and implementing the business and operational systems and processes that make Telnyx tick

  • Documenting and maintaining tax policy on behalf of all Telnyx entities

  • Monitoring regulatory tax developments and tax law changes

  • Ensuring transactions align with technical analysis and recommendations to the organization related to nexus determinations, exemption decisions, tax decisions, etc.

  • Preparing tax-related journal entries

  • Researching and documenting taxability of company product/service offerings and ensuring treatments are understood and adopted internally

  • Working cross-functionally with departments (including operations and estimating) to provide guidance on tax implications of bids/contracts and associated input costs

  • Participating in acquisition related sales & use tax due diligence including exposure analysis

  • Preparing and filing State personal property tax filings

  • Performing a Monthly review of indirect tax related account reconciliations

  • Assisting in the set-up and maintenance of systems and software that relate to sales and use tax transactions 

  • Working with Finance and Operations Teams to ensure accurate taxability for AP and AR transaction

Who we’re looking for 

  • 3+ years of applicable indirect tax experience

  • A strong foundation of indirect tax technical, analytical and compliance skills and experience

  • Intermediate knowledge of, and experience with, indirect tax principles and law

  • Experience working in a rapidly expanding, multi-entity organization with multi-jurisdictional regulatory requirements

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

  • You enjoy doing whatever it takes to execute on complex projects

  • You have a proven track record for working well across teams and with external partners

  • You are low ego and have a knack for working well with a wide range of people

  • You excel in analytics and problem solving

Bonus points for

  • Completion of, or progress towards, Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) or equivalent

  • Experience in a high growth technology company

  • Experience in the communications space
