Low Code Engineer

1=3 Consulting is seeking an experienced Low Code Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced automations and custom integrations across legal technology platforms. This role is ideal for someone with a technical background and a proven ability to manage projects from concept to completion—especially those involving Zapier, Make, and solutions with Open API, like Clio.

You’ll serve as both a technical expert and strategic problem-solver, taking ownership of automation projects and working directly with stakeholders to deliver efficient, scalable solutions. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience supporting legal clients or working within the legal industry.

This is a work-from-home position, but occasional travel may be required for team collaboration, client meetings, and industry events and training.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect, build, and maintain complex automation workflows using Zapier, including custom functions and integrations.

• Create and manage API-based integrations between Clio, DMS platforms, and other legal or business systems.

• Lead technical projects from discovery through execution, managing timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations.

• Conduct assessments to understand client needs and translate them into scoped, documented, and prioritized automation projects.

• Write, test, and debug scripts (JavaScript, Python, or equivalent) to support integrations and business logic.

• Ensure ongoing performance and reliability of automations, with proactive monitoring and optimization.

• Document processes, workflows, and custom code for internal and external audiences.

• Mentor and train team members and client staff, providing training or guidance on workflow automation best practices.

• Stay informed about evolving legal tech tools, API changes, and automation capabilities.

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.

Required Experience & Skills:

• 3+ years of low-code, no-code and other coding experience (Python for Zapier functions, and Node Javascript for most other Zapier code steps needed, including custom Zapier connectors)

• Advanced Zapier experience, including use of Functions in beta, multi-step logic, and external APIs

• Familiarity with Open API standards, RESTful APIs, and working with JSON

• Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects, including scoping, design, testing, and deployment

• Experience with Project Management Software

• Strong communication and documentation skills

• High attention to detail with a proven record of reliability and on-time delivery

• Ability to work independently

Preferred & Desired Skills:

• Experience with legal clients or in the legal industry

• Hands-on experience with Clio Manage or similar case management platforms with open API

• Familiarity with or a strong interest in Document Management Systems (DMS)

• Willingness to train and specialize in DMS technologies as part of ongoing role development

• Experience with additional automation tools (e.g., Make/Integromat, Power Automate)

• Knowledge of legal data privacy and compliance standards

Additional Requirements:

• Minimum of three professional references to verify technical skill, project experience, customer support, and reliability

• Occasional travel required
