Technical QA Lead

About Us 

At 800.com, we’re building an intuitive & powerful cloud communications platform for SMBs & Enterprises to communicate via Voice & SMS. 

Our backend tech stack currently consists of PHP web apps that serve a public API that our front-end JavaScript app consumes (React / React Native). Our data stores include MySQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis. The underlying infrastructure runs on AWS using a combination of managed services like RDS and non-managed services running on EC2 instances. All of our development runs through CI/CD pipelines that build Docker images. 

About You 

We’re looking for an experienced full-time Quality Assurance engineer to join our engineering team and build up a strong QA practice to help us scale and release high-quality, bug-free, software. Someone who has a solid understanding of web technologies and how to apply QA methodologies in small teams/high-growth environments. 

You’re comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a small and talented team. You are able to work with very little guidance, manage your time well, communicate effectively and collaborate in a fully distributed team.

Required Skills & Experience: 

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the quality assurance field 

  • Excellent debugging and documentation skills 

  • JavaScript/NodeJs experience 

  • Advanced knowledge of REST API 

  • Knowledge of MySQL or similar relational database 

  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools 

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Build up a QA practice from scratch and work with a non-technical QA/User Acceptance Tester 

  • Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases

  • Write and execute manual and automated tests to ensure product quality

  • Analyze bugs and errors found during tests 

  • Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved 

  • Document results of tests for the software development team 

Bonus: 

  • Understanding of test-driven development and testing in general

  • Experience testing mobile applications across ecosystems 

  • Basic understanding of web architectures, SSL, DevOps, and continuous integration 

  • Scrum and agile development

  • Conceiving, designing, building, and launching new user-facing features

  • Improving our vanity phone number algorithm to secure the best matching phone numbers for customers

  • Innovating business texting to include; auto-reply, scheduled messages, dynamic templates, keyword triggers, and reporting 

  • Working with Twilio’s API, Bandwidth API, WebSockets, and WebRTC to improve our calling features 

  • Building user-facing analytics features that provide actionable insights

  • Improving our internal messaging infrastructure using streaming technologies like Redis 

  • Building new and enhancing existing integrations with other SaaS platforms like Google’s G Suite, Zapier, and Web Conferencing providers
