Chain Operations Engineer

Agoric is an open-source software development company bringing better security and composability to the decentralized financial infrastructure of today. Agoric is built on a JavaScript library of reusable, composable components coded by experienced community members. Our secure JavaScript smart contract platform allows developers to rapidly build secure applications on top of an ever-growing collection of reusable governance, lending, and trading components.

What you will be doing

Support the development and operation of Agoric-hosted services for our production chains by:

• Managing follower and archive nodes for debugging resources and production services

• Creating, maintaining, and supporting test networks for full-chain testing environments

• Optimizing CI resources for engineering quality and performance data

Develop and respond to automated alerting for Agoric-hosted services by:

• Participating in the Security Engineering on-call rotation

• Automating and responding to chain monitoring, ensuring prompt incident resolution

• Monitoring chain dynamics, including staking distribution, transaction volume, and other critical metrics

Enhance the experience for node operators and validators by:

• Developing and maintaining tooling to support their needs

• Creating runbooks and documentation for node operators, including instructions for starting from scratch and recovering from known chain issues

• Creating and operating an artifact uploading service for debugging assistance during chain issues

Create tooling to support data requests related to our production chain in accordance with Agoric requirements by:

• Exporting historical balances for addresses

• Automating and validating token grants

• Generating performance reports for product features to inform strategic decisions

• Producing customized reports for additional business needs as they arise

What we look for in you

• BA, BS, MS, PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience

• 6+ years of experience as an SRE or back-end software developer

• Familiarity with blockchain, cryptography, and smart contract languages and frameworks

• Strong working knowledge of JavaScript & bash

• Experience working with monitoring & alerting automation, systems design and open-source projects

Nice to haves

• Experience with Cosmos/Tendermint

• Contributed to open-source projects

Compensation Range: $175,000-$250,000 base salary based on skillset/experience.
