The Role
We're hiring our first AEO Lead to build our Answer Engine Optimization practice from the ground up. This is a foundational role: you'll launch new service lines (brand mentions, listicles, community placements), establish the processes and quality standards, manage vendor relationships, and eventually hire and lead a small team. Responsibilities
Launch new AEO service lines including brand mentions, listicle placements, and community mentions - owning the full buildout from vendor sourcing to client delivery
Develop and document processes for quality control, fulfillment, and client communication that can scale as the team grows
Manage vendor relationships for service delivery, including negotiation, quality assurance, and performance tracking
Collaborate cross-functionally with our link building, account management, and operations teams to integrate AEO services into existing client engagements
Stay ahead of the AEO landscape - monitor how AI search platforms source and surface information, track industry developments, and translate insights into service improvements
Hire and develop your team in partnership with the founders, growing from individual contributor into a team lead role
Drive profitability for the AEO department by balancing service quality with operational efficiency
Establish quality standards that reflect the level of excellence our clients expect from Dofollow
Requirements
5+ years of SEO experience with strong foundational knowledge across technical, on-page, and off-page disciplines
Deep understanding of link building strategy, tactics, and quality assessment
Clear grasp of the AEO/GEO landscape - you know where the industry is, who the key players are, and how AI search platforms work
Vendor management experience - you've sourced, negotiated with, and held external partners accountable
Process builder mindset - you can create structure and documentation where none exists
Strong communicator who can interface effectively across teams and with clients
Comfortable with ambiguity - you thrive when building something new rather than maintaining something established
Proficiency with Ahrefs, Asana, Peec (or similar AEO tools) and Airtable (or similar tools)
Nice-to-Have
Experience building a new department or service line from scratch, ideally in an agency environment
Team leadership experience, even informally
Background in larger SEO agencies with established processes you can adapt
B2B SaaS industry experience
Familiarity with automation tools like n8n or make.com
