Video & Content Internship: Your Edits Will End Up on a Keynote Stage
Highlights
🔑 Work Directly with Our Founders & Content Team
🕘 6-month to 1-Year Internship
🕘 Part-time: 25 hours per week
🚀 Real Content Responsibility from Day One
🗺 Anywhere (must overlap US time zones 4–5 hours daily)
💰 USD $500 Monthly Stipend (potential hiring opportunity for full-time)
We don't need someone who can edit.
We need someone who watches raw footage and already knows what the strategy should be. Who finds the 20-second moment that stops a scroll, knows exactly why it works, maps out what the channel needs next, and has the first clip cut and ready before anyone has to ask.
That's the job. And if you read that and thought, "Yes, that's exactly how my brain works," keep going.
You'll work directly with our video team on short-form content pulled from podcasts, interviews, and storytelling projects. But here's the thing: editing is only half of it. We need someone who can watch three hours of raw footage and already know what the YouTube strategy should be. Someone who can map out a content direction for a channel, suggest what's missing, write a script when the moment calls for it, and explain the thinking behind every decision.
The edit is the output. The strategy is the job.
The content you'll be working with isn't generic. It comes from an award-winning storytelling series, seven seasons in, covering real people across healthcare, skilled trades, banking, and conservation. Over 25 million social views in the last six months. These are real stories with real stakes. Your job is to find the 20 seconds that make someone stop mid-scroll and feel something. And it doesn't stop at social. Clips you produce will end up on keynote stages, shown to audiences as real examples of how great content builds a marketing funnel, earns algorithmic attention, and travels on its own. Your editing decisions will be in rooms you'll never be in.
This isn't a slow, deliberate, one-video-a-week kind of role. It's high-volume, high-pace, and high-ownership. If you need someone to tell you what to do next, this won't work. If you already know what to do next and you're frustrated when no one moves fast enough, welcome.
Why You'll Love It Here
First, we're a fun-loving, dynamic bunch, always ready to tackle new challenges. Join us, and you'll never experience a dull moment.
Do you get a rush when a clip you edited starts racking up views? Perfect, so do we.
Not a fan of cubicles and offices? Cool, neither are we. We've been working remotely for a while now. Work when you're feeling sharp.
Enjoy being part of a worldwide team. Our team works from Bangladesh, Canada, Germany, Chile, Kenya, Brazil, Pakistan, Romania, USA, Colombia, and Argentina.
No formal experience? No sweat. We care more about your instincts, your speed, and your hunger to learn than your resume.
You'll fit right in if you're the kind of person who's already editing content for fun because you can't help it.
Just a heads-up: I might have looked like a terrified squirrel the first time I went skydiving. But hey, I just did it. So if you don't mind joining a team headed by a brave squirrel, come on in.
Check out my squirrel face right here.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
This isn't a "here's the footage, good luck" role. You'll be inside the content operation, making real decisions about what gets cut, what gets posted, and why, and then thinking about what comes next.
Editing raw footage from podcasts, interviews, and documentaries into short-form clips for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels
Finding the moments, the hook, the emotional pull, the line that makes someone stop scrolling
Adding captions, music, sound design, and effects that serve the story, not distract from it
Mapping out content strategy for YouTube and TikTok: what to post, how often, what's missing, what's next
Writing or outlining scripts for short-form and long-form content when needed
Reviewing channel performance and bringing ideas based on what the data is telling you
Proposing content directions proactively, not waiting to be asked
Writing brief notes on your editing choices so the team understands your thinking
Staying on top of trends, what's working on each platform right now, and how to apply it
Communicating proactively, updates on our project management tool, flags when something's blocked, no disappearing acts
You won't just be cutting clips. You'll be making editorial and strategic decisions that shape how this brand shows up online.
Where You Could Go From Here
Your first job is to earn trust with your speed, your instincts, and your ideas. After that, where you grow depends on where you shine.
🎬 Content Strategy & Direction
If you're consistently bringing ideas the team didn't ask for, channel strategy, content gaps, scripting directions, what's working on TikTok this week and why, you'll grow into owning the strategic layer of the content operation. Not just what gets made, but why, when, and what it's supposed to do for the business.
📊 Content Performance & Analytics
If you're analytical and love connecting editing decisions to actual metrics, views, watch time, engagement, you'll take on more of the performance side, turning data into better content decisions and channel recommendations.
🎥 Long-Form & Storytelling
If you have a natural feel for narrative and emotional storytelling, you'll get more involved in the longer production work, editing longer pieces and learning how to build a story arc from raw footage. .
✍️ Scripting & Creative Direction
If writing comes naturally alongside editing, you'll grow into scripting more of the content, from short-form hooks to longer narrative pieces, and helping shape the creative direction of what we make.
You don't get to pick your track on day one. You earn it.
You'll Thrive Here If...
You think before you open the editing software. You watch the raw footage, and you already have a point of view: this is the hook, this is the arc, this is what the channel needs more of. You can sit in a strategy conversation and contribute, not just listen. And when someone asks "what should we do next on YouTube?" you have an answer, not a shrug.
You move fast without cutting corners. You can turn around multiple solid clips in a day and still care about every frame. Speed and quality aren't opposites for you.
You're not precious about your work. Feedback doesn't sting, it makes the content better. You can kill a clip you loved if it doesn't serve the strategy.
You over-communicate. If something's unclear, you ask. If something's delayed, you say so before anyone has to follow up. You don't go quiet. Ever.
You're organized and predictable. Your schedule is real. Your availability during working hours is consistent. Your deadlines are met without reminders.
This Role Is Not For You If...
You take a week to finish a 60-second clip and think that's normal.
You go silent on Slack and wait for someone to chase you down.
You need step-by-step instructions for every task and struggle when the brief isn't perfect.
You edit technically but don't think about why someone would actually watch it.
You have no opinion on strategy and wait to be told what to make next.
You treat feedback as criticism instead of information.
We're saying this clearly because we respect your time and ours. If that list describes you, this isn't the right fit, and that's okay. If none of it describes you, and you're a little annoyed we even had to say it, you're probably exactly who we're looking for.
Your Skills
Proven ability to edit short-form content for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels, portfolio links or samples required
Proficient in at least one editing tool: Adobe Premiere, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro
Strong instinct for hooks, pacing, emotional pull, and what makes content actually get watched
Able to think strategically about a channel, what's working, what's missing, what to do next
Can write or outline a script when needed, or at minimum contribute to the creative direction
Understands platform trends and can apply them without being told
Communicates clearly and consistently, on Slack, in updates, and when things go sideways
Organized, self-directed, and delivers on time without being managed
Bonus: experience with documentary-style or emotional storytelling content
Bonus: familiarity with healthcare, education, or human-interest content
This is your chance to take the reins, get creative, and figure it out. It's not always a walk in the park, but you'll gain a ton of experience, and it will be worth it. We promise.
They Started Where You Are! Watch What Our Previous Interns Say About The Internship:
Almost everyone on our team started as an intern. That's not a talking point, it's the entire model. I literally wrote the playbook on it (coming soon):
Interns to A-Players: A Playbook for Remote Bosses.
From the team - right now:
Julian - Sales Intern
"I came in with experience in sales, marketing, and copywriting, or at least, that's what I thought. Once I had the opportunity to experience the day-to-day work of the professionals at this company, I quickly realized how much I still had to learn. They have built a system that is not only highly effective at generating results, but also at helping the people within the company continuously grow and develop, while maintaining the highest standards in everything they do."
Sol - Sales Intern
"Working as an intern at Strategic Pete has been one of the most fulfilling professional experiences I've ever had. Every day brings a new challenge and a new opportunity to learn. Strategic Pete is not a random company. If you genuinely want to learn how to take an idea, create a project, and bring it to life; if you enjoy sharing your thoughts while also being open to feedback; and if you are looking for a place where you can challenge yourself and grow, this is definitely a place where you can do that."
Where it takes you:
Carla came in as a video intern. She's now a full-time video editor on the team. Her words:
"Interning at Strategic Pete changed my entire perspective on remote work. I was able to grow my skill set and do meaningful work that actually made a difference. From my very first day, I was welcomed as a true part of the team. Everyone is so friendly and connected that it doesn't feel remote at all. I couldn't have asked for a better first job!"
Maria was managing client projects and our entire internal team by month one. Full-time by month three. Her words:
“Everyone put trust in me to lead effectively, that's what empowered me to take the position.”
Lara came in just wanting flexibility and practical skills. She left with a completely different way of thinking about strategy.
“I got both of those things, and more”.
Cami, our current SEO lead, knew nothing about SEO when she started. She now owns content for three clients across multiple brands.
“You had confidence in me even in times when I didn't.”

About Strategic Pete
Strategic Pete is a marketing and growth agency. But we've always worked a little differently.
Our founder, Peter, came up through CNN, hosted television shows in Chile, and built an award-winning seven-season series that streams on Hulu, Apple TV, Amazon, and Roku, with over 40 million social views. The approach to everything here: "Human. Not Hollywood."
That same lens runs through how we help clients. We work with mid-market B2B businesses to build real pipelines through outbound systems, content that resonates, and marketing strategy tied to revenue. Not fluff. Not brand decks that collect dust. Real, measurable growth.
We'll start you off with a $500 monthly stipend. Show us what you've got in 6 months, and you could land a full-time role. Working closely with managers and specialists in different areas of marketing, you'll learn a lot.
We've helped 100+ interns grow in their careers. You must be ready for a 6-month commitment and be willing to put in at least 25 hours per week.
How to Apply
Before you send anything, watch one episode of the Strategic Pete podcast. Pick whichever one calls to you:
Stop the Sales Gimmicks! Build Genuine Relationships That Actually Drive Business
The Workforce Shortage Is a Story Problem, Not a Labor Problem
This isn't busywork. It's 20-40 minutes that'll tell you more about how we operate than any job description could. If you watch it and think this is my kind of team, then send us a Loom (free tool, just Google it) telling us:
Who you are. Tell me a bit about yourself and why you think you are the next A+ teammate for our remote crew.
Pick one thing from the episode you disagreed with or would push back on, and tell us why.
Tell us one moment from the episode that connected to something in your own life or work, and be specific.
Why video editing and story-driven content genuinely excites you, not just editing in general.
Share your portfolio, your reel, your TikTok, your YouTube channel, a Google Drive folder of clips, anything that shows us how you think on camera and behind the strategy. No formal portfolio required. We just want to see your instincts in action.
We read every Loom. We skip every application that arrives without one.

Don't wait, tomorrow could be too late.
