Senior Fund Accountant

As a Senior Fund Accountant, you will be a foundational part of the Hiive asset management team. Reporting to the VP of Operations, you will be responsible for the accounting function for Hiive single-asset funds from establishment to wind-down. You will have a deep knowledge of fund accounting and support the operations and administration team. You will liaise with investors, regulators, and third-party vendors to responsively and precisely account for complex, fast-moving fund structures and create a culture of operational efficiency and excellence.

In this role, your responsibilities would include:

  • Create the fund accounting function at Hiive, which includes setting up policies, processes, procedures, vendor relationships, and templates.

  • Work with the fund administration team to prepare accounting packages for Hiive’s funds.

  • Create monthly fund financial reports.

  • Oversee the valuation framework and strike NAVs for each of Hiive’s funds.

  • Manage Hiive’s accounting processes for all direct and underlying fund investments.

  • Review calculations for investor capital calls and distributions.

  • Prepare year-end annual fund financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

  • Prepare annual K-1s for each investor in the funds.

  • Perform procedures to ensure all accounting aspects are in compliance with the fund’s offering documents, such as various fee calculations and investor income and expense allocations.

  • Assist the fund administration and fund operations teams with initial accounting setup for new fund launches.

  • Handle accounting for fund wind-downs.

  • Manage investor ad hoc accounting inquiries and requests.

  • Work with the product and engineering teams to productize fund administration functions over time.

Required Experience:

  • 6+ years prior experience working in fund accounting, particularly management of private equity or venture capital funds

  • CPA/CA or other equivalent accounting qualification

  • Prior experience working as a fund administrator or public accounting firm with specific experience working on private funds and investments.

  • Direct experience in creating and reviewing financial and tax statements for a variety of alternative investment funds.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP for investment companies and related reporting requirements.

  • Exceptional ability to manage high-level, as well as day-to-day accounting procedures.

  • Excellent attention to detail, resourcefulness and speed of execution.

  • Ability to handle and communicate priorities and deadlines with internal and external stakeholders, and build constructive high-trust relationships.

Preferable Experience:

  • Secondary markets experience.
