As a Senior Analytics Engineer within our Data & Analytics Tribe, your role will be instrumental in working with teams across our tribe, utilizing our data stack consisting of Redshift, dbt, and Airflow. Join us in our mission to provide accurate, timely, and valuable data-driven solutions to the rest of Hotjar.

In your day to day you will: 

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize scalable data models with a focus on our Semantic Layer (the building blocks that data analysts use for crafting reports) that maximize the value of our data, ensuring high-quality, clean, and maintainable analytical code. This includes code reviews and optimization.

  • Curate, organize and document data definitions and metrics to improve the useability of our data while maintaining data quality.

  • Collaborate with data analysts and data engineers as primary stakeholders to create innovative analytical products that drive actionable insights.

  • Assist in the technical scoping of projects that impact our data transformation layer to ensure alignment with data engineering goals.

  • Develop and communicate best practices in Analytics Engineering, including keeping abreast of dbt feature updates and being a thought leader on data cleaning, data monitoring automated testing.

🎯What you will bring:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working with data, showcasing advanced technical expertise in data model development (ideally having worked on projects that involve working on a Semantic or Metrics Layer), data pipelines, and analytical tools.

  • Advanced knowledge of dbt.

  • Proficiency in writing analytical SQL with a deep understanding of the distinction between functional SQL and performant SQL.

  • Familiarity with the tools in our data stack, including Redshift, Airflow, and Python.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with effective communication abilities across various mediums and a proactive collaborative approach, including experience in training and upskilling colleagues.

  • A pragmatic mindset that values simplicity and effectiveness in solutions.

  • Desire to work in a respectful, transparent, and collaborative environment, aligned with Hotjar's company values and culture.

  • Must be willing to undergo a confidential background check processed by our third party.

💰Compensation and Perks:

The compensation range for this role is €80,000 to €105,000 annually, where the typical offer will fall within the range of €85,000 to €100,000, based on experience, skills, and equity across the team.
