As a Staff DevOps Engineer, you are experienced in working closely with developers to safely deploy changes in a production environment. You have the skills to plan, communicate, monitor, and deliver large and small projects. You strive to ensure that every edge-case is considered and you have the ability to architect changes with safe revert strategies. You feel comfortable joining developers on calls, providing guidance, and coaching best practices. You are curious, motivated, and not afraid to dive into unfamiliar code. You take the time to discuss trade-offs in application, database, and infrastructure architecture. You are accustomed to on-call rotations and have the expertise to triage and route alerts to appropriate teams. You have worked across departments on large initiatives related to security, compliance, and business continuity. You bring strong technical expertise and excellent collaboration to help better our team and improve the lives of our service professionals (our Pros).

 

You are joining a squad dedicated to supporting a large, fast-paced engineering team. Our team is passionate, empathetic, hard working, and above all else focused on improving the lives of our service professionals (our Pros). Our success is their success.

In your daily routine, you will: 

  • Engage with engineers requesting support on a variety of projects related to infrastructure, observability, security and reliability

  • Be responsible for designing and implementing infrastructure solutions to support business and DevOps initiatives

  • Write and review change management documentation and pair with DevOps and Delivery teams to roll out changes leveraging CI/CD tools such as Github or Gitlab

  • Monitor and troubleshoot production applications and databases, ensuring high availability and performance through effective incident response and system optimization

  • Optimize cloud resources to ensure cost-effectiveness and scalability

  • Manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools to provision and configure cloud resources (i.e. Terraform and Terragrunt) 

  • Write and maintain runbooks to enable self-service and help streamline incident response

  • Improve system reliability through automation, proactive monitoring, and performance tuning

  • Partner with other parts of the business to coordinate large initiatives such as disaster recovery, ETL, data classification, software upgrades, and compliance

  • Foster a culture of DevOps best practices by providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members

  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating and integrating new tools and methodologies to enhance our DevOps capabilities

We think that this offer is for you if you:

  • 4+ years experience with cloud environments, DevOps and Software engineering

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in DevOps roles with a focus on infrastructure

  • Proven experience in providing operational support for large-scale development teams

  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code languages (i.e. Terraform or Cloudformation)

  • Familiarity with common web application languages (i.e Python, Ruby, or Golang) and strong proficiency in at least one

 

🔝And also, you get extra points for:

  • ✔ Strong knowledge of AWS products (i.e. ECS, EKS or Kubernetes, RDS, RDS Aurora for MySQL and PostgreSQL, S3, Opensearch/Elasticsearch, Cloudfront, etc)

  • ✔ Strong knowledge of core networking concepts (i.e. VPC, Security groups, and Load Balancing)

  • ✔ Familiarity with Security, Compliance(SOC2, PCI), Governance and similar non-functional requirements in system design and implementation
