Writers and Authors

We are looking for Writers and Authors to write, review, and validate prompt-based questions designed to train AI.

Your expertise in creative writing, technical content development, storytelling, editorial review, or nonfiction writing will ensure each prompt and response is clear, engaging, and stylistically accurate. We welcome professionals with experience in journalism, publishing, copywriting, content strategy, and literature to help create training materials that reflect real-world language use and communication intent. You’ll have the opportunity to shape how AI understands, generates, and refines written content across styles and formats.

You are a good fit if you:

  • Have over 3+ years of professional writing or editorial experience.

  • Have a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, creative writing, communications, or related field.

  • Have a strong background in one or more of the following areas: creative writing (fiction, nonfiction, screenwriting, poetry), technical or instructional writing, journalism/editorial work/content marketing, or writing for the web/blogs/educational content

  • Demonstrate excellent grammar, style, and structure awareness

  • Have strong attention to details

Preferred Qualification

  • Master's degree in writing, communication, or literature is a plus.

  • Familiarity with SEO, UX writing, or digital publishing is a plus.

Role Highlights

  • Flexible workload: 10–20 hours per week, with potential to increase to 40 hours.

  • Fully remote and asynchronous—work on your own schedule.

  • Minimum duration: 1–2 months, with potential for extension.

Role Start Date

  • This role will begin in early to mid-July with applications reviewed on a rolling basis.

Interview Process

  • You will take an AI interview where you will be asked questions about your background in writing and content development.

  • You will share your screen and write a detailed prompt to generate an AI response about a writing topic.

  • You will evaluate and compare LLM outputs to determine which response is more effective and accurate.

  • Applicants will be selected based on their performance in the AI interview and on the accuracy and quality of their evaluations.

Compensation and Legal Details

  • You will be legally classified as an hourly contractor for Mercor

  • We will pay you out at the end of each week via Stripe Connect
