
Senior People Partner
The role
The Senior Human Resources Business Partner will be an internal consultant to designated Teams on all things talent management. You will establish yourself as a strategic advisor on team dynamics, employee engagement, organizational design, performance management, employee relations and leadership coaching. You will propose practical, scalable solutions that align and enhance Newsela’s culture within a mission-driven talent base that values diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Reporting to the Manager, Talent Management, you will partner closely with managers and leaders across various teams, and People/OD/DEIB, Finance and Legal teams. As a senior member of our Talent Management team, you will also mentor our HR Business Partners (People Partners).
We are hiring for (3) roles across Newsela to support:
Go-to-Market: this role will be primary support for all customer facing teams (Sales) and partner closely with our HRBP who supports Customer Success/Marketing.
Operations: this role will be primary support for our Ops (Finance, Legal, People/DEIB/OD), Customer Ops and Learning & Enablement teams.
R&D: this role will initially report to the Chief People Officer and be primary support for our Product, Tech, Content, Learning teams.

With proven success and measurable impact, you’ve operated as an autonomous senior leveled HR Business Partner (with previous mentorship, supervisory, and/or managerial experience) and coached leaders of all levels on matters related to teams and talent management, change management and organizational effectiveness, internal communications, compensation, performance management, and employee relations while applying DEIB philosophies and practices. You are able to strategically connect the dots that not only identify and address root cause but understand and solution for longer term results. You establish yourself as a trusted advisor by building rapport, providing expert guidance, and having an understanding of team and business challenges, ideally including business acumen and considerations specific to one or more pillars of teams we are hiring for. You possess high EQ, self-awareness, a growth mindset, lead with context and intentionality and value shared learning cultures. You’re versed and knowledgeable on current and changing labor laws and compliance requirements (FLSA, independent contractors, etc.). You are a complex thinker and problem-solver with proven ability to identify trends or issues within a team and implement solutions to address the core factors influencing the team and people aspect as well as larger business factors. You are able to balance between employee engagement, team culture, business needs, while maintaining a focus on diversity, equity, including and belonging. While not required, experience in fully remote, start-up/tech and/or scaling environments are highly preferred. Proficiency in Slack, Google Suite, Monday.com, Greenhouse, Ultipro, CultureAmp or similar platforms needed to be successful.
