About the Role

We are seeking a German-speaking Senior Python Backend Engineer to join our DACH expansion team—currently one of the most crucial pieces of Nordhealth’s global growth puzzle.

Provet is a mission-critical productivity platform that veterinarians rely on daily to care for their patients. With a massive active footprint and extensive feature set, this role offers genuinely interesting technical challenges in performance, scaling, and architecture.

In this role, you will help implement next-generation functionalities and architect robust API interfaces to power our modern Vue.js frontend, while systematically refactoring, optimizing, and rewriting our core Python/Django framework. 🚀🚀

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Drive high-priority architecture: develop and scale robust backend Python applications anchoring our SaaS ecosystem

  • Solve real scale challenges: optimize application performance and troubleshoot complex bottlenecks

  • Elevate the codebase: conduct code reviews, champion automated testing, and refactor legacy Python/Django systems

  • Advance modern API infrastructure: build clean, scalable APIs for seamless integrations and frontend support

  • Collaborate & mentor: partner with cross-functional teams, mentor junior developers, and foster continuous learning

  • Secure & document: implement security practices, maintain compliance, and document architectural processes

What Will Help You Be Successful

  • Experience in fast-growing, global SaaS companies

  • Ability to manage legacy code while enhancing platform functionality

  • Building new APIs to support frontend requirements

  • Refactoring code for maintainability, scalability, and performance

  • Defining clear interfaces for modules

  • Builder’s mentality & AI fluency: leverage AI workflows to accelerate prototyping and streamline development

Wishlist

  • Strong proficiency in Python, especially Django

  • SaaS application development experience

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Experience with Docker and containerization

  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies

  • Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases

  • Experience designing RESTful APIs

  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks

  • Ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Full proficiency in both German and English

Nice to Have

  • Understanding of security best practices and compliance standards

  • Experience with cloud-based solutions

  • Experience with AWS services (Lambda, ECS, EKS, App Runner)

  • Experience working with Agile teams
