About the Position
OHO is searching for a contract UX Designer at to play an essential, hands-on role across a variety of digital projects, contributing strategic thinking and strong execution in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. As a temporary but integrated member of our cross-functional UX & Design team, this individual will help shape information architecture, define user flows, and create wireframes, prototypes, and other UX deliverables that align with each project’s strategy and scope. They will actively participate in workshops and brainstorms, think on their feet, and collaborate closely with visual designers, content strategists, and developers to co-own the final product. Success in this role requires fluency in usability and accessibility best practices, comfort with component-based design systems, and the ability to conduct or support user testing. The ideal contractor is both autonomous and collaborative—able to make quick, thoughtful decisions, communicate clearly with clients and internal teams, challenge ideas in productive ways, and consistently elevate the user experience.
Please Note: OHO is building a network of experienced contractors for upcoming projects. While specific start dates are to be determined, we are actively seeking to identify and secure talented professionals now. Selected candidates will be contacted as projects are scheduled.
Responsibilities
Accountable for UX design execution in alignment with strategy, scope and priorities of each project.
Creates sitemaps, user flows, wireframes, annotations, and other materials that help communicate IA action plans.
Is familiar with component-based design systems for web design (such as atomic design).
Demonstrates a fluent understanding of information architecture, usability and accessibility best practices.
Creates prototypes as well as helps define and execute user tests as they pertain to the project in scope.
Thinks on their feet and is an active contributor in brainstorms and UX workshops.
Collaborates with other UX designers, visual designers, content strategists, and developers to co-own the final product.
Understanding and competency in user research/testing is a major bonus.
Requirements
Has 3+ years of a successful track record in UX Design practice
Familiar with designing sites powered by a content management system
Proficient in Figma
Is an innovative, strategic thinker
Is good at quick decision-making in response to changing conditions
Is passionate, confident and goal-oriented
Can work well autonomously and remotely
Ability to communicate with clients, designers, and developers
Often challenges team through solutions beyond what’s expected
Is a team player and puts ideas before egos
Is an articulate visual and verbal communicator
Follows UX & Design trends and knows how to leverage best practices
Demonstration of the ability to legally work in the United States according to federal law
Has at least a Bachelor's degree in Interactive Design (or a related field)
Familiarity with higher education
and healthcare industries is major plus
