
L&D Manager
We are seeking a practical, delivery-focused L&D Manager to join the People Experience team and help establish our early-stage Learning & Development function. As the organisation’s first dedicated L&D specialist, you will build and manage core training processes, oversee the LMS, and deliver foundational development programmes that support a consistent and engaging employee experience.
This is a hands-on, operational role suited to someone highly organised, process-driven, and confident managing training programmes end to end.
Key Responsibilities
Training Operations & LMS
Maintain and administer the LearnUpon LMS, ensuring content is organised and up to date
Track L&D spend in partnership with Finance and maintain budget oversight
Manage training records, reporting, and compliance
Onboarding
Audit and improve the end-to-end onboarding experience (content, systems access, touchpoints, manager responsibilities)
Partner with HR and IT to streamline workflows and ensure a smooth day-one experience
Create and maintain onboarding materials (eLearning, guides, checklists, templates)
Deliver or coordinate induction sessions and evaluate programme effectiveness
Apprenticeships
Act as the main contact for apprenticeship providers
Support apprentices and managers through programme requirements
Track progress, manage documentation, and ensure funding compliance
Coordinate reviews and reporting
Content Creation & Delivery
Develop clear, practical training materials and job aids
Review and update existing learning content
Contribute to digital and blended learning solutions
Deliver internal training sessions (e.g., manager fundamentals, core skills)
Ways of Working
Operate independently as the sole L&D specialist
Collaborate with HR and cross-functional stakeholders
Manage external vendors and platforms as required
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Background in a Training Coordinator, L&D Administrator, or Training Manager role
Experience managing LMS platforms and operational training processes - knowledge of LearnUpon highly desirable
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Apprenticeship programme experience (desirable)
Comfortable facilitating small-group or virtual training
Detail-oriented and process-driven
Confident communicator and facilitator
Self-sufficient and proactive
CIPD Level 3 (desirable)
Focused on practical implementation and continuous improvement
