Customer Support Specialist (North/South America)

Patchstack is looking for a customer support specialist who has excellent communication skills and strong problem-solving abilities with a background in WordPress / PHP development. Bonus points, if you’re personally interested in cyber security.

Regular daily tasks include doing live chat support via Intercom, keeping our support channel organized, and being an active member in different WordPress-related community groups. You’d be working closely together with our product and marketing team.

What is Patchstack?

We are a group of people passionate about open-source software, protecting website owners and developers from hackers.

We do this by helping them identify & patch vulnerabilities in their WordPress sites. We also run a community of ethical hackers and security researchers who help us find and patch these vulnerabilities in open-source components.

What we do:

  • We provide a SaaS solution to detect and virtually patch plugin vulnerabilities.

  • We run a community-driven bug bounty platform (Patchstack Alliance) to nurture a community of independent security researchers behind the WordPress ecosystem.

  • We maintain an open and free WordPress vulnerability database

  • We provide vulnerability information to some of the biggest WordPress hosting companies

  • We provide professional code review and security auditing to WordPress plugins

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a person, who is a great communicator and has some level of technical background in WordPress and PHP. Problem-solving skills are essential - communicating with our customers in live chat is one of the key responsibilities. You’d also take actively part in different WordPress community discussions about security and our product (in Facebook, Discord, etc).

Key responsibilities:

  • Offering support to customers via Intercom chat

  • Organizing and managing the support tickets

  • Being active in different WordPress-related communities

  • Being an active team player and supporting other team members, when possible

Key requirements:

  • Personal interest in cyber security (application security)

  • Experienced in working with WordPress

  • Basic-level knowledge of PHP

  • Previous experience with customer support

  • Fluent in English

  • US timezone (UTC-3 or UTC-4)
