Senior Marketing Manager
About Pettable
Pettable is the leading platform connecting people with licensed clinicians for emotional support animal (ESA) accommodation letters under the Fair Housing Act. We're not a form-fill operation - we run a real clinical network of ~70 licensed therapists across all 50 states and have served nearly half a million customers.
Pettable operates under its parent company Receptive. The business is growing and at an inflection point: we're building a standalone team and systems to support Pettable's next chapter. This is a rare opportunity to own a meaningful growth function at an efficient, growing business.
About the Role
We're hiring a Senior Marketing Manager to own everything marketing that isn't paid acquisition. That means lifecycle marketing, SEO and content, and partnership execution - the channels and systems that nurture customers, retain subscribers, and build Pettable's presence beyond paid ads.
You'll work alongside a Head of Performance Marketing (who owns paid acquisition and conversion) and report directly to Pettable's General Manager. You’ll initially operate as an individual contributor while leveraging freelancers, contractors, and cross-functional support. Over time, there may be opportunities to expand ownership and team scope as the function grows.
This role is ideal for someone who's strong at lifecycle, has real opinions about content and SEO, has experience working with brand and strategic partners, and wants the variety of working across multiple marketing functions at a scaling.
What You'll Own and What Success Looks Like
What You'll Own
Lifecycle marketing: You own lifecycle: email and SMS flows, subscriber engagement, renewal sequences, nurture and win-back campaigns, and the overall communication cadence for existing customers. You’ll inherit an already-established lifecycle and retention foundation with significant room for optimization and expansion. Near-term, you'll lead a revamp of our current lifecycle flows - improving copy, creative, and segmentation while keeping the architecture that works. Long-term, you'll build out a retention strategy that directly improves subscriber metrics and collaborate with the Performance Marketing team on conversion optimization.
SEO and content strategy: You'll own the organic content roadmap - what we publish, why, and how it ranks. You may manage freelance writers and contractors for production, but you set the strategy: keyword priorities, content calendar, and how organic traffic feeds into the acquisition funnel. This is a channel with significant growth potential for Pettable.
Partnership execution and co-marketing: You’ll own partnership execution: co-marketing campaigns, launch plans, ongoing partner communications, and performance tracking. If a large partnership takes off, you'll flex into managing that relationship day-to-day.
Social and influencer strategy & execution: You'll keep Pettable's social presence alive and credible, and run early experiments with influencer and creator partnerships to test whether the channel works for our category. This is a test-and-learn area, not a core mandate - the bulk of your time goes to lifecycle, content, and partnerships.
What Success Looks Like
First 30 days: Learn the ecosystem
Complete handoff from Receptive's lifecycle and organic teams. Understand the current lifecycle setup: what’s working well, what needs improvement, and where the biggest opportunities are.
Audit the current SEO and content footprint. Understand what ranks, what drives traffic, and where the gaps are.
Build working relationships with team members and understand how lifecycle, content, SEO, and partnerships fit into the broader acquisition and retention picture.
Map the customer journey from the lifecycle side: what communications does a customer receive today, when, and how well are they working?
Plan for go-forward reporting that ensures we are tracking progress for our objectives and key results that map to your function.
First 60 days: Start building
Deliver a lifecycle audit with a clear recommendation: what flows to keep, what to revamp, and what to build from scratch. Prioritize by revenue impact.
Have a content and SEO roadmap for the next quarter - keyword targets, content calendar, and a plan for contractor support.
You are reporting out on your key metrics on a weekly and monthly basis, and your reporting infrastructure is built so that you are not spending too much time gathering data each week.
Identify 2-3 experiments to run in the next 60 days, with clear hypotheses and measurement criteria.
First 90 days: Show results
Lifecycle flow revamp is complete or well underway. You can point to early performance improvements in open rates, click-through, or conversion on the flows you've touched.
Content is published on a regular cadence and you have a clear view of what's driving organic traffic and what's not.
At least 1 experiment (net new lifecycle flow, content, influencer) has been launched. You have early data on whether the test has potential or not.
You've established a working rhythm and clear ownership with other team members.
You feel real ownership over your metrics, and if something is underperforming, you have answers or hypotheses as to why.
180 days and beyond: Own the organic and retention engine
Subscriber retention metrics (month 3, month 6) are trending in the right direction. You can tie improvements back to specific lifecycle changes you made.
Organic traffic is growing and you have a repeatable content engine running.
If partnerships have landed, you're managing the co-marketing execution smoothly and can demonstrate partner-driven results.
You're a real partner to the GM and the Head of Performance Marketing on the full marketing picture - not just your channels, but how organic, lifecycle, and partnerships fit together with paid to grow the business.
Who You Are
You have 5+ years of marketing experience, with deep expertise in lifecycle and retention marketing and meaningful exposure to content, SEO, partnerships, and organic growth channels. You know how to build marketing programs from scratch, measure performance, and continuously optimize based on results.
You are a strong marketing generalist who enjoys balancing strategy and execution. You're comfortable moving between lifecycle marketing, content initiatives, partnership programs, influencer experiments, and other growth opportunities as business priorities evolve.
You are data-informed and highly analytical. You can independently evaluate performance with thorough reporting, uncover insights, tell a compelling story with data, and make thoughtful decisions even when attribution is imperfect.
You have a proven track record driving email and retention performance, ideally within Klaviyo, and partnering closely with growth, performance marketing, operations, and leadership teams to improve conversion and customer engagement across email and SMS channels.
You have experience owning SEO, content, and partnership initiatives, including keyword strategy, content planning, co-marketing campaigns, and other programs that drive measurable organic growth.
You are comfortable managing freelancers, agencies, creators, and contractors, while also rolling up your sleeves to execute and keep projects moving.
You thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and have experience working within DTC, subscription, marketplace, pet care, or health and wellness businesses.
You are excited by AI-native marketing tools and actively leverage AI to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and creativity.
