Accounting Policy Manager

Job Title: Accounting Policy Manager

Job Summary

The future is bright for the Porch Group, and we’d love for you to be a part of it as our Accounting Policy Manager. 

The Accounting Policy Manager will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the company's accounting policies and procedures. This position requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and industry practices. The successful candidate will provide technical accounting guidance, support financial reporting, and collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant standards.

What You Will Do As An Accounting Policy Manager

  • Develop, maintain, and update the company's accounting policies and procedures.

  • Research complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition, insurance accounting, goodwill, impairment, share-based payment, and business combinations.

  • Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulations, assessing their impact on the company's financial statements and operations.

  • Participate in the implementation of new accounting standards, ensuring timely and accurate implementation.

  • Support the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other relevant standards.

  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate smooth audits and reviews.

  • Serve as a key resource for the finance team, providing training and support on complex accounting matters.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of internal controls over financial reporting.

  • Participate in special projects, including mergers and acquisitions, system implementations, and process improvements.

  • Prepare memos to support the company's accounting positions.

  • Act as a liaison with external auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders on accounting matters. 

  • Contribute to climate disclosure implementation.

What You Will Bring As An Accounting Policy Manager

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or Master’s degree in accounting required.

  • CPA required.

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in public accounting (Big 4 required) or a combination of public accounting and industry experience.

  • Experience with accounting software and financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, Floqast, Microsoft Excel, Alteryx, SmartView) is required

  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex accounting concepts to non-financial stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across functions.

  • High level of integrity and professionalism.

  • Demonstrates ability to lead initiatives that require definition, cooperation and conflict resolution with peers, cross-functional teams, and senior leadership.

 Individual contributor position (no direct reports)

Travel required

 Possible ~5% travel

What You Will Get As A Porch Group Team Member

Pay Range*: $106,500.00 - $149,100.00 annually

*Please know your actual pay at Porch will reflect a number of factors among which are your work experience and skillsets, job-related knowledge, alignment with market and our Porch employees, as well as your geographic location.  

Additionally, you will be eligible to receive long-term incentive awards, subject to program guidelines and approvals.
