About the Role
Second Nature is looking for an experienced self-motivated Senior Accountant. Reporting to the Controller, this is a crucial role that will assist in overseeing the accounting operations in a fast-paced, growing entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with general ledger accounting areas of the financial close process including preparation of month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement reporting and analysis
Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries and financial analytics, for properly stated financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policy
Analyze financial statements to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes to summarize and interpret the current and projected financial position of the company
Prepare account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and review of corporate expenses, ensuring financial records are maintained in compliance with company policy
Support continued development and implementation of internal controls and process improvements across the organization to drive best practices, improve efficiencies and ensure US GAAP compliance.
Assist with sales tax filings and other tax and jurisdictional requirements
Review contracts for proper ASC 606 revenue recognition and confirm proper accounts receivable, deferred revenue, and revenue recognition.
Work with accounting leadership to research technical accounting issues and assist with implementing accounting policies and procedures.
Act as a partner between the accounting/finance team and other business units to improve accounting processes and procedures.
Support management with special projects, process improvements and other responsibilities as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Bonus points for CPA
3+ years of progressive accounting experience.(bonus if you’ve had public accounting & private industry experience)
3+ years experience managing invoices, expenses, payments in Bill.com
3+ years experience using Netsuite
Experience with cloud ERP accounting systems
Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial close process
Internal control & SOX compliance experience
Strong communication skills (written and oral, English)
Ability to handle multiple priorities and to set and meet deadlines with attention to detail and good problem-solving skills
