Creative Director

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR  

We're seeking a Creative Director at TENCUE, a visionary leader who transforms client objectives into artistic innovation. With a focus on events and experiences, you'll drive world-class production outcomes, collaborating seamlessly with diverse, distributed teams.   

Reporting to the Executive Creative Director, you'll be a highly creative, collaborative, and pragmatic leader. Your role involves actively understanding client needs, guiding their vision, and translating it into impactful and enduring experiences that drive action. WHAT THE CD BRINGS (QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE CAPABILITIES)  
   

  • 5+ years of proven experience in creative leadership across diverse specialty engagements

  • Proficiency in event strategy and development.

  • Strong design skills with focus on staging/set design 

  • Generate creative for show elements such as opening experiences and videos

  • Pitch effectively, including creation of pitch deck

  • Understand production including technical limitations and budget implications

  • Knowledge of emerging event, media, and performance trends.

  • Exceptional communication, people management, and client relationship skills

  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and time-management skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • An innovation mindset, with brainstorming and ideation approaches that grow collaboration and inclusivity.

  • The ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt.

  • Proficiency in office apps and creative software.

  • Strong leadership, feedback, and mentoring skills.

   

WHAT THE CD IS RESPONSIBLE FOR  

Artistry and Design
Craft and develop events and gatherings (external and internal) that empower audiences in new and unique ways.  Focus on "the why," going beyond what the client asks for to solve why the client is asking and the underlying need they (and their audiences) have. Spearhead projects and teams who will become recognized industry innovators.  

  • Responsible for event creative direction for a wide variety of shows and engagements.

  • Ensure the quality and integrity of creative deliverables.

  • Participate and lead in reviews and feedback sessions with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Push creative boundaries, continually raising the bar on event innovation and delivering successful, budget-conscious solutions to stakeholders.

  • Motivate and educate event creative teams to consistently produce cutting-edge work.

  • Facilitate creative service programs and new offerings.

   

Production and Processes  

Drive multi-disciplinary creative teams and share responsibility for properly resourcing project groups and balancing project financial targets to produce one-of-a-kind events.  
   

  • Develop cohesive creative goals for events in collaboration with the Executive Creative Director

  • Guide the execution of TENCUE's creative strategies across multiple channels.

  • Uphold creative standards and foster a culture of creative talent development.

  • Improve production processes and creative collaboration.

  • Recommend solutions to streamline creative workflow.

  • Extend delivery methodologies and best practices.

  • Understand and communicate the client's (and TENCUE's) missions, values, and goals at every project touchpoint.

   

Business Development  

Support prospects and existing clients in defining their event strategies and realizing their goals in ways that exceed expectations.  
   

  • Distinguish TENCUE’s unique positioning in the market. Collaborate with internal teams to set the strategic direction of creative services marketing and outreach programs.

  • Actively participate in the delivery of stellar proposals and engaging client presentations that win new projects and wow existing clients - aligned with our unique approach and encouraging all employees to contribute to and participate in the process.

  • Strategically research and identify industry trends, technologies, and event formats.

  • Cooperatively drive innovation and R&D with our creative and production partners, vendors, and suppliers.
     

Management and Leadership  

Guide, inspire and facilitate the event creative and creative-production teams to realize the maximum impact for the client and our organization.   

  • Provide thoughtful and insightful partnership to show teams from kick-off to debrief.

  • Help find and attract the best diverse, daring talent, and expedite the growth of a culture of deep collaboration to craft and deliver innovative, unforgettable live experiences.

  • Monitor project timelines and budgets.

  • Coordinate with vendors for timely delivery of goods and services.

HOW WE’LL TAKE CARE OF YOU  

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting salary for this role is between $116,000 AND $140,000. Our salary ranges are based on third-party national average market compensation analysis. The actual salary is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Physical Requirements:  

Individuals will be required to sit for the majority of the day and will be required to stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required.  Individuals will be required to travel via airplane, train, taxi, car and/or other means of transportation as needed.
