Controller

About the Role: 

Unite Us is looking for an experienced Controller to join the Finance Department and support the Company on its hyper growth trajectory. The right candidate will bring in a minimum of 7 years of experience in the technical accounting department of a big 4 accounting firm or 10 years of experience in the accounting department of a mature software corporation. You will be reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Finance. You will be a critical business partner working closely with the operational and executive leaders of an innovative, agile technology company. You are an independent strategic thinker who is a strong team player (no job is too small or too large) and has an outstanding work ethic. You will thrive and be valued in this role because you bring in a vision for a scalable, business partner-oriented function, and you have the ability to build that vision from the ground up.

What You'll Do:

• Research and analyze application of accounting standards to complex business transactions, including M&A accounting, and equity transactions

• Draft white papers summarizing technical accounting issues, application of accounting guidance to the company, alternatives available and recommendations

• Prepare presentations of accounting treatment with recommendations for management

• Draft updates to sector accounting policies for new accounting pronouncements and other changes

• Review revenue recognition checklists, conclude on treatment and provide guidance on revenue accounting under ASC606

• Prepare and present accounting and policy training on an as-needed basis to finance and non finance teams

• Support the enterprise financial planning process through periodic financial close, including preparing Netsuite journal entries, and drafting financial statements

• Provide support to and respond to questions from the external auditors

• Perform miscellaneous financial analysis as required 

You’re a great fit for this role if:

• Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn software technologies such as Netsuite, Google Suite, Zoom, Slack, HubSpot, Asana, etc.

• At least 7 years of experience in Big 4 public accounting firm or 10 years in mature technology firm accounting department

• GAAP accounting proficiency and research experience

• Basic computer and financial analysis skills, including use and understanding of spreadsheets

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Self-motivated, yet functions well in a team environment

• Prior experience in SaaS or in on-premise software company

• Focused on continuous improvement and identifying efficiencies in recurring processes

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions:

• This position is remote, U.S. based

• The target pay range for this role is: $150,000-170,000. This salary range represents our national target range for this role. Some geographic areas may have higher target ranges.

• This position may require 10% travel
