User Experience (UX) Intern

About The Internship:

Unite Us is looking for a Summer 2024 UX Design Intern to join our growing tech startup that is transforming health and social services. As our UX Design intern you will have an opportunity to directly impact the user experience of our platform users as they help individuals in their communities get the social help they need. You will use your knowledge and passion for excellent UX design to create usable, accessible, delightful experiences that inspire and carry users to effortlessly complete their work. Your collaboration skills and insight will be set in the context of a vibrant, active UX team that includes UX Design, UX Research, and Technical Communications. 

Our 8-week summer internship class runs from June 3, 2024 - July 26, 2024

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with the UX team on completing a series of journey maps across the products in our platform.

  • Contribute to team decisions by evaluating the journey maps against usability principles.

  • Identify opportunities to reduce friction, introduce automation, surface vital user data, etc. to improve the user experience.

  • Develop your Figma expertise through project and conceptual design challenges.

  • Flex your design chops and interpersonal skills by working with the UX and Product teams to iterate existing designs.

  • Support the UX Research team by creating prototypes for user testing.

  • Present your work to the company, and talk about your experience

  • Participate in our active UX culture through design critique sessions, weekly design team discussions and demos, and presentation and discussion of select UX-related topics.

You're a great fit for this Internship if:

  • You are a junior/senior undergraduate or first year graduate student pursuing a degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Architecture, Industrial Design,  or other related field.

  • You have familiarity with user-centered design principles and practices.

  • You have an understanding of how UX Design fits into user research methodologies.

  • You have excellent interpersonal, written communication, and collaboration skills.

  • You are empathetic and curious, and have the ability to connect with and relate to people to understand their needs as users.

  • You have a drive to apply UX Design toward improving the world for health and human services through inclusive, accessible, delightful design.

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • This position is remote, U.S. based

  • This internship is $20.00/hour for 35 hours per week

  •  Our 8-week summer internship class runs from June 3, 2024 - July 26, 2024
