Director of Technical Program Management

As a Director of Technical Program Management, you will serve as a key thought partner to the Affirm Technology leadership team, responsible for leading multiple technical program management teams and drive strategic programs in partnership with Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, InfoSec and User Experience leadership, as well as often coordinating more broadly with partner product areas, including Consumer, Merchant and Foundations product leadership. You will like working with large amounts of data, have the capacity to understand and work with complex systems, and enjoy the challenge of solving/simplifying problems. Finally, you will actively develop and grow our key talent as well as evolve the overall organization to set it up for success as it faces new challenges. You will bring expertise in technical/program management to help us deliver on great Affirm products.

What you’ll do: 

  • Lead and inspire a distributed team of Technical Program Managers (TPM) drawn from several parts of the business, with a goal of driving alignment amongst key stakeholders.

  • Partner closely with Engineering VPs/Directors, Product Managers, and leadership to ensure TPM alignment with engineering and product priorities. Forecast resourcing requirements for TPM, while driving sublinear scaling. 

  • Build a healthy, scalable, and growth-oriented TPM organization across multiple business units, geos and disciplines.

  • Lead TPM groups to streamline product and engineering planning processes, simplify execution, manage objective key results (OKRs), release on time, bring tooling efficiencies, and help teams in overall execution.

  • Manage communication of progress/status within the core team and with our XFN partners.

 

What we look for:

  • 10 years of experience managing technical projects in a software engineering domain

  • 5 years of experience leading teams within technical program management or equivalent roles

  • Experience creating, executing, and delivering against a product roadmap and driving business impact

  • Experience collaborating across organizational boundaries, building relationships, and importing and exporting talent and ideas to achieve broader organizational goals

  • Experience with cross-functional stakeholder management and leadership through influence

  • Organizational leadership, with ability to collaborate with and influence teams across boundaries

  • Committed to building inclusive teams and team culture, with outstanding business judgment, and excellent project management, problem solving, and analysis skills

  • Comfort with changing specifications or standards, creating the conditions in which the team feels comfortable and capable of working through in response to ambiguity

  • Nice to have- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience

USA Pacific base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT):  $222,300 - $277,800 

USA Sapphire base pay range (all other U.S. states): $200,000 - $250,000
