People Operations Manager

We have a fantastic opportunity for a People Operations Manager to join our Complex Facilities (CF) Business Unit. This role will report to our CF People Partner and support the MoJ Prisons account. This is a permanent position that offers remote/home based working although a vehicle will be part of the benefit package as some business travel will be required.

 

Our CF business unit delivers bespoke asset and facilities management services designed specifically for our clients who operate in complex environments, including defence, justice, education, and health.

Our MoJ Prisons account supports the UK justice sector by providing secure FM within 60 prisons in the Midlands, Wales and the North of England.

This People Operations Manager role will support the delivery of the HR agenda alongside the People Partner providing proactive, professional HR support and ensuring the delivery of a value-added HR service to the business.

You will be applying best practise HR solutions that meet the business needs.

 

The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week based on Monday – Friday.

As People Operations Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Coaching frontline people managers to be able to confidently navigate their way through the various Employee Relations procedures

  • Overseeing the ER case load with our outsourced Employee Relations provider to ensure frontline people managers are compliant with advice and policy.

  • Ensuring that our frontline managers are proactively managing their teams and promptly addressing ER issues eg grievances, disciplinaries, absence, etc.

  • Supporting the People Partner with the development and delivery of People Plans that meet the strategic and operational needs of the MoJ account;

  • Supporting the People Partner and operational business with HR interventions.

  • Supporting the rebid of the MoJ contract along with mobilisations, demobilisations and restructures;

  • Facilitating the provision of meaningful HR data to the operational business;

  • Working in collaboration with the People Shared Services team and HR Specialist teams to ensure the provision of a value add HR offering;

 

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience in a similar role

  • Strong employee relations experience

  • Coaching and mentoring capability

  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft packages

Ideally you will be qualified in CIPD Level 5, however, we are happy to consider candidates who have extensive experience.  It would also be useful if you had experience within the FM sector, however this is not essential.  You must however, be a resilient individual and comfortable working with those based in a custodial environment and attending sites on occasions but equally with remote working.
