Developer Advocate (YouTube & Developer Education focused)

Appwrite is seeking a passionate and versatile Developer Advocate to focus on the growth of our YouTube channel and creating Appwrite how-to videos. Your primary role will be to develop and execute our video content strategy while also contributing to the overall growth of our developer community. This position is open for candidates located in Europe. Knowledge of Flutter is a big plus but not required. Although travel is optional, you should be open to attending a few in-person company gatherings and events, with up to 25% travel. The Developer Relations team at Appwrite operates as an independent department and is currently a team of 6 individuals and growing. Our Founder and a significant part of our company are deeply involved in developer communities. Responsibilities

  • YouTube Channel Growth: Strategize and execute plans to grow our YouTube channel, focusing on creating engaging video content related to Appwrite how-tos and other developer topics.

  • Content Creation: Develop high-quality video content, blog posts, presentations, live streams, and more to educate developers and promote Appwrite.

  • Community Engagement: Attend, speak, and sponsor in-person and virtual events to connect with various developer communities.

  • Advocate: Represent Appwrite as a thought leader in different communities, advocate for Appwrite's community internally, and promote Appwrite externally.

  • Partnerships: Collaborate with Integrations Engineers to identify and establish potential partnerships for collaboration/integration projects, ensuring a smooth handoff of responsibilities for code development and cross-marketing opportunities.

  • Internal Advocacy: Act as the voice of the developer within the company, ensuring that product, engineering, and marketing teams understand and address the needs and concerns of the developer community.

  • Marketing Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team to ensure content is shared and promoted through our social calendar.

  • Developer Feedback: Gather and analyze developer feedback, sharing insights with the Engineering teams to improve our product and services.

Requirements

  • Located in Europe.

  • Established experience in producing high-quality video content.

  • Experience with Open Source communities and projects.

  • Proficiency in at least two programming languages and/or frameworks, such as Node, Vue, PHP, Dart, Swift, Flutter, etc.

  • Passion for teaching developers how to build cool stuff.

  • Basic understanding of developer experience and funneling feedback from developers to internal teams.

  • Demonstrated track record of creating quality technical video content.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% (optional).

  • Ability to work with a diverse, globally-located company and team, collaborating across different time zones.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, demonstrating adaptability, resilience, and a strong work ethic.
