About You

You love getting down into the nuts and bolts of how great marketing, product, content development, tech, and data teams collaborate, influencing our go to market motions and tuning how it happens til it’s as second nature as a f1 pit stop. You love putting on your scientist hat to help the team work on iterative cycles from ideation, testing, and measurement to deliver their best work - regardless of the headwinds. Most of all, you’re highly mission driven and believe that great work happens through relationships and people, not politics and ego. 

What you'll do

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing operations strategy that aligns with our mission to grow the game of chess, support and delight our community, and enable great work

  • Process Optimization: Streamline marketing workflows and processes to maximize productivity, leveraging best practices and crafty solutions

  • Technology Management: Be a key stakeholder in the management, selection, implementation, and optimization of both partner and operated marketing technologies (e.g marketing automation, creative testing, analytics, crm management tools) to impact campaign effectiveness, data management, and measurement

  • Data Analytics: Lead data-driven decision-making by implementing robust analytics and reporting systems to track performance, measure ROI, and inform strategy adjustments.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product, content, community, tech, and data teams to ensure alignment and integration of marketing efforts across the organization.

  • Budget Management: Track our spend, contractual obligations, and returns, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve best impact

  • Team Development: Foster a culture of collaboration, team-building, and a growth mindset

Preferred Skills

  • Proven proficiency in marketing operations, preferably in a B2C environment for large scale businesses with a recognizable brand

  • A track record of managing and optimizing marketing technology stacks

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies

  • Excellent project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional initiatives across globally matrixed organizations

  • Outstanding communication and leadership abilities, with a knack for influencing stakeholders at all levels, through presence and in writing

  • Exceptionally kind and organized

  • Passion for chess, technology, gaming, or some other highly engaged online communities is a must
