
Executive Editor, Spanish Language Arts
Description
Curriculum Associates is seeking an innovative and creative K–8 Executive Editor who has deep knowledge of Spanish-language literacy and biliteracy. The team’s goal is to lead the revitalization, expansion, and growth of our Reading/Spanish Language Arts digital, core, supplemental product offerings. The Executive Editor will be a critical member of the team responsible for conceptualizing and executing on new print or digital products for Curriculum Associates SLA portfolio.
The impact you'll have:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize products that support teachers, engage students, and empower students to read at grade-level.
Review, analyze, and translate reading research into effective solutions for students and teachers, with a deep understanding of the needs of K–2 content.
Define and design instructional materials for students and teachers, such as tools to improve whole- and small-group instruction, and to bridge foundational skills with comprehension.
Lead multiple groups in the delivery and execution of key components of a blended reading program with a keen eye on quality and efficient delivery.
Collaborate with the Editorial Director to ensure that projects are adequately and appropriately staffed.
Work cooperatively and effectively with other members of cross-functional project teams, including Design, Production, Marketing and Sales
Review, revise, and edit manuscripts.
Establish and enforce guidelines, checklists and processes to ensure high quality instruction, and clarity in goals and objectives for stakeholders and end-users.
Train or manage the training of editors, supervise overall performance, and recommend promotions.
Maintain high-quality documentation that reflects project specifications and project learnings.
Share joy, passion, and commitment to building great products that inspire and engage users.
Who we're looking for:
7+ years managing the development of K–8 reading/language arts products—both student and teacher facing components
Experience conceptualizing and delivering core and supplemental ELA products into K–8 schools. Exceptional expertise at the K–2 level is preferred
Biliterate and bilingual (Spanish/English)
Proven project management skills, attention to detail, and an ability to drive toward completion; experience should include planning, scheduling, and supervising staff and vendors
Laser focus on instructional quality throughout the development cycle
A great eye for engaging, high quality content
Deep understanding of national and state standards and assessments
Fluency with quantitative and qualitative text measures
Ability to proactively and creatively solve problems related to product development
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in education and teaching experience a plus
This position can be based in our headquarters office in North Billerica, MA (a suburb of Boston); in one of our satellite offices in Brooklyn, NY and Chicago or remote.
