The Role: 

We are looking for someone to build our next generation food labeling solution. LabelCalc is an all-in-one online nutrition labels generator that allows our customers to create & print FDA-approved nutrition panels for food products in just minutes. With our innovative software, customers can create their own nutrition labels with ingredients pulled from our comprehensive USDA-compiled database. Within the LabelCalc product library, customers can access and store recipes and ingredients safely and securely. Designed specifically for food manufacturers, this software was created to give the quickest turnaround for the highest quality labels in four easy steps.

Responsibilities: 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy high-quality web applications using Ruby on Rails.  

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards.  

• Develop and integrate APIs to enhance application functionality and third-party integrations.  

• Design and maintain database schemas, particularly with PostgreSQL, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.  

• Deploy and manage applications on Heroku or similar cloud platforms.  

• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in existing applications as well as implement enhancements.  

• Independently lead and manage development projects, from conceptualization to delivery.  

• Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to suggest improvements and innovations for the development process. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent work experience).

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Ruby on Rails development.  

• Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles and experience integrating external APIs.

• Proficiency in PostgreSQL database design and optimization.  

• Experience deploying and managing applications on Heroku or similar cloud platforms.  

• Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.  

• Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git.  

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.  

• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
