Newsletter Researcher for Data-Driven Digital Marketing Newsletter

Newsletter Researcher for Data-Driven Digital Marketing Newsletter

Job Title: Newsletter Researcher

Company: DataDrivenU.com

Location: Remote

About the Company:

With a newsletter audience of over 95k marketers and data geeks, we are the largest newsletter focused on data driven marketing online. DataDrivenU.com is a digital marketing education company that provides online courses, newsletters, and a community for marketing professionals to enhance their skills and stay up-to-date with the latest trends in the industry.

Our mission is to empower marketers with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in the ever-evolving digital marketing landscape. The newsletter was started in 2013 by Jeff Sauer and has been going strong for over 10 years. Our newsletter is read by employees at Google, Facebook, Best Buy, 3M, Hubspot, Appsumo, and More.

About the Team:

We are a small, nimble team that works together closely despite working across multiple time zones. We take pride in our work and strive to go above the expectations of our clients.  As a team, we value personal integrity, accountability, proactive problem-solving, initiative, and positive collaboration.

About You:

As a newsletter researcher, you will be in charge of discovering the most interesting, in-depth, and relevant information at the intersection of data and marketing. You will sift through hundreds of potential articles and resources to find the hidden gems that are a “must read” for the data driven marketer. You will share your research internally with newsletter writers and the Data Driven Slack community and take pride in finding the best articles out there. No fluff, just high-quality content. High signal, minimal noise. If you are an avid reader and have your Feedly or Social feeds tuned in to see the best news, you’ll thrive in this role.

About the Role:

Reading, extracting key points from, and categorizing the latest news, techniques, and case studies about data driven digital marketing.

You will likely curate hundreds of articles in a given week and work with our editorial team to determine the best resources to include in our newsletter.

We’re really looking for the hidden gems of the Internet that give our readers a “light bulb” moment of encouragement. Discover little-known writers and give them their big break. Earmark YouTube videos that make a previously complex subject easy to understand and feed them to our community and writers.

You will also provide input to survey our newsletter audience as we complete original research to be published under the Data Driven brand.

Because your research will be a pivotal point of our newsletter delivery, your working hours will need to be synchronized with our editorial staff. The exact hours will be discussed during the hiring process.

Job Duties:

  • You consider yourself an expert researcher and a resourceful “native” of the Internet

  • You aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and join niche Slack communities to see what is being discussed

  • You have a good eye for “great wok” - this often means sifting through thousands of discussions and mediocre blog posts to find the great ones

  • You are open to finding new sources of information instead of relying on the same sources each and every day (but of course, exceptional work by a reliable source is more than welcome!)

  • You love all things marketing and data, and are comfortable researching the five dimensions of data driven marketing: Traffic, Tracking, Analysis, Conversion, and Reporting/Data Visualization

  • You are a savvy user of AI tools and can use them to make yourself more efficient

  • You understand and can research the online marketing industry players, initiatives, and financial statements of publicly traded companies in this space

  • You read at least 5 newsletters a day on your own time, and are excited about a 10-100x increase in the sources you study

  • You show up to work every day and are committed to your role

  • You are open to receiving feedback and finding new sources, understanding the power you hold for rising digital marketers to be seen

  • Bonus points if you’ve served in a digital marketing role in the past or currently in this capacity

Job Benefits:

  • Fully remote, part-time contract position

  • Monthly stipend starting at $1,000/month

  • Several growth opportunities, including leadership roles

  • You’ll work directly with a thriving online community of data-driven marketers and Jeff Sauer, our founder and industry visionary

  • Flexible schedule

  • Additional opportunities for professional growth

How to Apply:

If you are interested in this position, please submit your resume and cover letter detailing your qualifications and experience in researching digital marketing trends, articles, and techniques. We look forward to hearing from you!
