Senior Backend Engineer

About Enode

Do you want to join a fast-growing climate tech startup with real impact?

At Enode, our mission is to accelerate the energy transition 🌍️

A fully renewable energy system is dependent on flexible demand that can adapt to the intermittent supply from wind and solar. To create this flexibility, we need to connect to and control the fast-growing demand coming from electric vehicles, heat pumps and other energy hardware.

This is what we’re doing at Enode. Our APIs power the next generation of green energy apps, reaching more than 60 million consumers worldwide.

We are backed by some of the best climate tech investors in the world, including Y Combinator, Lowercarbon Capital and Creandum. We already have a global presence with customers in 11 countries across Europe, US and APAC.

Yet, we’re still at the start of our journey, and we want exceptional people to join us!

What we're looking for

Enode is looking for a Senior or Staff level Backend Engineer to help bring the Enode API to even more customers and end-users. We are looking for compassionate engineers excited by leading projects setting technical direction, and mentoring those around them. In addition, we are looking for engineers motivated by creating impact for our customers, growing together as a team, shipping MVPs, and leaving things better than we found them.

You'll work mainly with a codebase written in Typescript and will work with React, Node, AWS, Docker, SQL (PostgreSQL), CDK/Cloudformation.

You must be located between UTC+3 and UTC-2.

You have

  • A passion for building products with high impact on the forefront of the green shift.

  • The capabilities to work across the entire stack when needed and collaborate with Product & Design to set the long-term technical direction for new & existing products.

  • Five+ years of production experience, core fundamentals, and a strong command of at least one language

  • Problem-solving. Our work frequently involves applying unusual ideas; you aren't hesitant to investigate new fields when tried approaches don't work, go over minute details, or look for non-engineering solutions to problems.

Nice to have

  • Experience growing a new team or product, and are excited about helping make a great team environment.

What we offer

  • A stimulating, fun and caring work environment with high drive and ambition.

  • Opportunity to join an early-stage climate tech startup with global ambitions.

  • Competitive salary and benefits, including a very attractive employee option program.

  • Infinite learning opportunities and career development.

  • A remote-first setup where you can work anywhere you want in the world - we will assist you with the perfect design if you do not already have it. We also have an office in Oslo if you want to work from here.

  • Regular offsites with the team in various exciting locations (we went to Tuscany 🇮🇹 earlier this year)

  • Stipend for setting up your home office / co-working space

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
