As we scale, we’re seeking a detail-driven and proactive Global Payroll Lead to oversee a remote payroll team and ensure consistent compliance with U.S. payroll laws and standards. 

 

Job Overview: 

The Global Payroll Lead will manage a team of three Payroll Specialists based in the Philippines and act as the key liaison between the offshore team and U.S. finance leadership. This position requires in-depth knowledge of U.S. payroll regulations- especially for California and Georgia- and hands-on experience in multi-state payroll processing. The ideal candidate will be LATAM-based, experienced in remote leadership, and motivated by process improvement and global team coordination. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Payroll Oversight: 

  • Lead and supervise daily payroll operations for U.S. employees, ensuring timeliness and accuracy 

  • Maintain and audit payroll records for multi-state compliance, focusing on CA and GA requirements 

  • Manage and resolve payroll discrepancies, garnishments, and tax-related issues 

  • Serve as the point of contact for payroll-related questions across time zones 

Team Leadership: 

  • Oversee a team of three Payroll Specialists located in the Philippines 

  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to improve performance and efficiency 

  • Create standardized documentation, checklists, and training materials 

Compliance Management: 

  • Ensure strict adherence to U.S. federal and state payroll regulations (FLSA, IRS codes, wage laws) 

  • Monitor and implement changes related to state-specific regulations, including California’s meal/rest rules and Georgia’s tax laws 

  • Support audit readiness and ensure payroll compliance documentation is up to date 

Systems & Process Optimization: 

  • Manage payroll systems using Paychex Flex 

  • Maintain strong documentation practices and improve workflow tools 

  • Collaborate with U.S. finance and HR teams to improve cross-functional processes 

 

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience in U.S. payroll operations, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or team lead capacity 

  • Proven experience handling multi-state payroll, including California and Georgia 

  • Proficiency in Paychex Flex or similar systems 

  • Strong skills in Excel or Google Sheets for data validation and reporting 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field 

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. tax laws (FICA, FUTA, W-2, W-4), wage garnishments, and audit standards 

  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal) 

  • Experience managing remote teams and coordinating across time zones 

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently
