
Director, People & Culture (Contract)

This Director of People & Culture will support our team to deliver and implement P&C programs and services while keeping our people at the heart of everything we do. People & Culture
Mentor & coach our People & Culture team, and continue to develop a high performing & engaged team
Lead and execute our compensation strategy, including annual comp surveys, managing our annual compensation increase process and ongoing promotional processes
Manage our group benefits plan in Canada and US to ensure we are keeping up with market trends and managing annual renewals with our brokers
Become an expert on our stock option plan, including educating our team, supporting finance with granting and exercising teammates options
Act as a collaborative partner with our Leadership team, ensuring alignment between each department and P&C by providing insightful, solutions-oriented, and empathetic problem solving
Manage the People & Culture budget, including employee salaries and benefits
Leverage data and best practices to optimize P&C, and guide decisions with respect to hiring, talent development programs, and retention
Review and update policies and procedures to ensure compliance across both US and Canada
Build on remote work best practices, ensuring our teams are set up for success
Identify organizational training needs and develop and implement training courses that satisfy these needs
Support our P&C Generalist with our recruitment process. This may include participation in the full cycle of the recruitment and onboarding process
Leading and reporting on our annual KPI’s and team objectives
Lead the organization’s performance management program
Approving and overseeing the P&C payroll process in partnership with Finance
Maintain and optimize HRIS (data integrity, tracking, reporting)
Risk Management
Support our GRC Analyst in developing and managing the company’s risk management framework to identify and mitigate risks.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards through policy creation and enforcement.
Conduct risk assessments and audits across operational, financial, and IT areas.
Monitor and address changes in legal and regulatory requirements.
Promote a culture of compliance and risk awareness through training and communication.
Present risk reports and recommendations to leadership
What you bring to the team:
10+ years of HR/People Operations, 3-5 of which you’ve led a function/team.
Experience in scaling, high-growth companies, experience working in tech a plus!
Excellent relationship-building skills, passion for customer service
Post-secondary education in HR or equivalent work experience
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent skills in G Suite
Experience working with an HRIS and Performance Management Software
Solid project management skills and effective time management/prioritization skills
Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment and decision-making skills when faced with conflict situations or sensitive employee relations matters
Superior interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
Experience in a specialized area of HR (compensation & benefits, learning and development, employee relations, or compliance)
