
Lead Content Editor, Freethink Creative Studio
About the Role
Freethink Media is looking for an experienced creative strategist and content editor who cares deeply about telling amazing, authentic stories, who has experience working with partners and navigating client input to create great work, and who has a passion for managing and mentoring a team of creatives.
As Content Lead, you will be in a leadership role within Freethink’s Creative Studio, overseeing the content editor team. You and your team will create sponsored content for Freethink.com and Bigthink.com, as well as white label partner content. You will divide your focus between pre-sales ideation and post-sales creative execution. You will work closely with the wider Studio team, as well as with the Executive Creative Director and Executive Producer on strategy and performance. You will have extensive experience as a journalist, producing digital features, articles and social content.
What You’ll Do
Commission, edit and write digital articles for sponsored partnerships
Build and produce digital content while utilizing best practices for SEO and social media
Research, pitch and book industry experts and influential voices to feature in our content
Come up with creative ideas and strategy for new partnership proposals - including articles, video, social products and more
Write copy for pitch decks, and collaborate with a designer on the build
Be aware and ahead of competitor business activity
Be on top of trends, products and innovations that could improve our content strategy and widen our delivery scope
Analyze performance data and use it to inform creative decisions.
Collaborate with the Publishing team to integrate best practices and insights into future work.
Partner with sales directors to advocate for your team and ensure partners receive the best possible creative
Use client management skills to act as a liaison between our partners and internal team
Manage a growing team of editors and writers.
What You’ll Need
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced setting
8+ years of experience as a digital journalist
Experience collaborating with clients
Experience in both editorial and commercial roles is preferred
Strong commissioning, writing and editing skills
Knowledge and experience in our core topics: tech, science, social change and business
Ability to pinpoint what makes a successful branded content campaign
An abundance of creative ideas for innovative content solutions
Strong knowledge of SEO and social media strategy
Strong communication and influencing skills, excellent time management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders
Experience generating ideas for video content - both onsite and social
Ability to adapt content strategies across multiple platforms, including onsite, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and more.
