Mission

To own the accounting side of Groq's global payroll function, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant recording of payroll activity while partnering closely with our Payroll Specialist to support a seamless end-to-end payroll process.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the accounting side of the global payroll function, including the preparation, review, and posting of payroll journal entries across US, Canada, UK, KSA, and EOR-supported geographies

  • Partner closely with the Payroll Specialist to ensure payroll data flows accurately from multiple payroll platforms (ADP for US/Canada, Remote for EORs, Rouse for the UK, and Tasama for KSA) into NetSuite, investigating and resolving any variances

  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll-related account reconciliations, including wages, taxes, benefits, 401(k), and other payroll liability and expense accounts

  • Support month-end and quarter-end close activities by preparing payroll accruals (bonus, commissions, PTO, payroll taxes) and related flux analyses

  • Reconcile payroll tax filings to the general ledger and partner with internal and external stakeholders to resolve any tax notices or discrepancies

  • Support future compensation-related accounting initiatives, including readiness to assist with cap table administration and equity-related payroll accounting as the company evolves its capital structure

  • Assist with the preparation of payroll-related schedules and support documentation for external audits, including year-end financial statement audits and 401(k) audits

  • Ensure compliance with multi-state, multi-country, and international payroll tax requirements, GAAP, and internal controls; help document and enhance payroll accounting processes as we scale

  • Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and scale payroll accounting processes across a growing global footprint

  • Partner cross-functionally with People, Total Rewards, Tax, Legal, and FP&A to ensure accurate reporting and alignment on payroll-related matters

  • Support ad-hoc projects, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives within the broader accounting and payroll function

Ideal candidates have/are:

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or progress toward CPA a plus

  • 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong focus on payroll accounting in a high-growth technology environment

  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite is required

  • Experience working across multiple payroll systems and a strong understanding of how payroll flows in a global setup; familiarity with ADP, Remote, Rouse, Tasama, or similar international payroll/EOR platforms is a strong plus

  • Solid understanding of US GAAP, payroll tax regulations (federal, state, and local), and multi-country payroll accounting, including EOR arrangements

  • Familiarity with compensation structures in private companies and an interest in supporting cap table and equity-related accounting activities as the company's capital structure evolves

  • Strong reconciliation skills with demonstrated ability to investigate variances, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions

  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills and comfort working with large data sets across multiple sources

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong communicator who can partner effectively with a small, collaborative accounting and payroll team while operating as an individual contributor

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, take ownership, and drive work forward with minimal direction

  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive employee, compensation, and company financial data
