The Role

Purpose of the role

As a thorough Financial Controller, you will be a pivotal member of the Finance Team.

You will sit at the intersection of accounting and financial reporting, with growing exposure to FP&A, bridging the gap between these areas and expanding our approach beyond traditional accounting.

This generalist approach allows for a holistic view of the organization, making this role a key part in ensuring financial accuracy and compliance, supporting decision-making and improving financial processes across the organization.

Team

Despite being a small and recent team in the organization, the Finance team doesn’t shy away from creating a massive and positive business impact.

While our priority is financial stability and being fully compliant in the countries we operate, we always push for innovative ways of influencing top-level decision-making and funding our growth.    

Your top 4 objectives

·        Manage our financial accounts, ensuring accounting and tax compliance  

·        Ensure we have insightful financial reporting

·        Push for automation and process improvement 

·        To develop yourself and everyone around you   

 

Your top 5 responsibilities

·        Accounting/Compliance: You’ll be having conversations with our external accountants. You’ll make sure our accounts are up to the highest standards, are accurate and that we are compliant with tax authorities globally.   

·        Financial Reporting Support: Assist in the preparation of financial reports to support decision-making.

·        Process Improvement: Continuously seek ways to streamline finance processes, enhance efficiency, and implement best practices that strengthen financial stability and the effectiveness of the finance team.

·        Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as consulting and other business service teams to ensure alignment and address any issues or concerns that may arise.

·        Develop everyone: Maximise the development of our team, personally and professionally, while also developing yourself.

 

Your Capabilities

You will be a detail-oriented finance prodigy, spotting inaccuracies, and pushing for best practices and financial stability, while carrying strong numerical skills and a pragmatic approach that are essential for success in this role.

While you will have support from the team, you will be expected to take ownership of tasks, manage priorities independently, and proactively solve problems.

As a candidate, you should have:

Must-Have (The fundamentals)

o   Mastery: 2-3 years background in Accounting. Excellent Excel skills  

o   Communication: Precise and structured communicator both written and verbal in English   

o   Leadership: A kind approach to dealing with people, contributing to the development of others  

o   Impact: A track record of making organisations better beyond just doing the basics, while showing a high degree of autonomy and proactivity. 

 

Nice to Have (If you don’t have it now you will after joining)

o   Mastery: Strong capability in data management and analytics tools, like PowerBI. Certified Public Accountant

o   Communication: Ability to translate data into compelling stories that inspire action and drive meaningful change

o   Leadership: A proven leader/coach/developer of teams

o   Impact: A strategic mindset, managing to zoom out and understand the business principles, strategy, and how the team can contribute to it.
