The People Team ❤️

At OpenZeppelin, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As part of our People Operations team, you’ll help support a fully distributed group of 130+ teammates across the globe.

We’re a small but high-impact team, and we’re looking for someone who’s eager to learn and grow with us. In this People Ops Associate role, you'll support monthly payroll coordination across multiple countries, in collaboration with Finance and external providers while also assisting with essential HR operations that keep things running day to day.

You don’t need to know everything yet. This is an entry level role and we’re looking for someone who’s highly detail-oriented, values confidentiality, works well with others, and is genuinely curious about how people systems work behind the scenes. What you'll be doing

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll for our team across various countries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local regulations.

  • Support multi-country payroll processing in coordination with Finance and external partners (PEOs, EORs), ensuring timely, accurate payments and compliance with local regulations

  • Maintain payroll and employee data in our HRIS with a focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and quick issue resolution

  • Track changes that impact payroll, such as compensation updates and offboarding

  • Respond to employee inquiries with clarity and care

  • Assist with audits, reporting, and the continuous improvement of people processes

  • Contribute to additional People team projects as they arise, based on team priorities and your interests

You have

  • 1–3 years of experience in HR, People Ops, or payroll administration

  • Basic understanding of employment classifications

  • Basic proficiency with spreadsheets, HRIS tools, and payroll platforms (Rippling, Deel, Workday or similar)

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Clear and professional communicator in English, both in writing and conversation

  • Collaborative and proactive when working across time zones in a fully remote, fast-paced environment

  • Ability o juggle multiple tasks and prioritize under deadlines 

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting payroll across multiple countries

  • Passion about the blockchain space and decentralization

  • Curiosity for HR tech and automation

Location

Remote role open globally (outside the U.S.), with preference for UTC-4 to UTC+4 time zones. 

Logistics:

Our interview process takes place on Zoom and tends to consist of the following stages:

  • Hiring Manager Call (45 mins)

  • Team Interview (30 mins)

  • Leadership Interview (30 mins)

  • Paid work test (Lasting up to 5 days)

  • Reference checks
