Finance Manager

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Finance Manager to join our team at Optimism. As a crucial member of our finance department, you will play a leading role in managing financial operations, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. What are the role responsibilities?

  • Own the full business unit P&L for each department, playing a pivotal role in driving informed decision making.

  • Provide detailed financial analysis on the numbers to help guide management decision making.

  • Play a key role in the operating budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial projections.

  • Support the Controller with high-level financial planning and analysis activities

  • Oversee treasury operations, including liquidity and cash-flow management.

  • Monitor and report on the performance of investments, including valuation and impairment assessments.

  • Implement and maintain robust financial controls and procedures to safeguard company assets.

  • Ensure compliance with international financial regulations and standards, particularly IFRS and US GAAP.

  • Review and filing of group tax returns and assist in building tax strategies.

  • Assist in the review and filing of statutory accounts and other financial documents for each group entity.

  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities as needed.

  • Management of OP grant process covering, data input, data integrity reviews, frequent reconciliations, management of gov locked OP grants and maturity tracking, preparing weekly grant payments for review and approval.

  • Carry out in-depth financial due diligence and risk assessments of potential new partners.

  • Assist in implementing and optimising financial processes and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the finance department to enhance performance. Ensure our financial strategies are robust and compliant with evolving regulations in the crypto sector.

  • Liaise with and provide business partner support for internal teams.

  • Provide the Controller with other support as required.

What skills do you bring?

  • Fully qualified chartered accountant (ACCA / ACA / CIMA / CPA).

  • 7+ years of experience in finance at a top 5 accounting firm, with a strong background in financial management, analysis and reporting.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles under IFRS and US GAAP, with experience of applying them to a complex and dynamic business environment

  • Proven track record of leading financial operations in a high-growth, dynamic organisation, preferably within the crypto or fintech industry.

  • Proficiency in financial software and systems, with advanced skills in Excel/Google Sheets.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • Proactive and innovative mindset, with a willingness to take ownership of tasks and drive them to successful completion.

  • Experience with crypto and digital assets is highly desirable.

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
