About the Director of Global Fundraising
This is a pivotal role at 350.org, at a critical time for the climate movement. The Director of Global Fundraising will be responsible for designing and delivering a multi-year global fundraising strategy to diversify and grow multiple revenue streams. The scale and urgency of our ambition must match that of the climate crisis, and this role holds the responsibility for identifying financial support for our organisational strategy and priorities, and finding institutional and individual donors in alignment with our mission, culture, and values. The Director of Global Fundraising manages the Fundraising team, and provides leadership to all staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, diversity, equity and inclusion, including in our relationship with a broad and varied donor base.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management
Inspire, support, and manage a team of high-performing fundraising professionals to increase mission-aligned income to support delivery of 350.org’s ambitious new strategy.
Working closely with the Executive Director and Department Head of Public Engagement, develop and implement a multi-year global fundraising strategy to diversify and grow income streams, raising the current US$ 22 million target year on year, in support of 350.org’s mission and its long-term goals, fiscal health, and organisation-wide priorities. This includes developing and implementing a strategy for our sister organisation, 350 Action, that focuses on lobbying and political campaigns;
Oversee the identification and deployment of creative and innovative fundraising plans, tools and techniques that remain true to 350’s ideals and identity.
Oversee the stewardship of donor relationships; working with organization-wide leadership to strengthen 350.org’s relationships with donor partners representing both individual and institutional sources of income.
Oversee the management of appropriate systems to improve the fundraising function, including but not limited to:
Portfolio management: prospect and donor research, market trend analysis, and other stewardship efforts.
Revenue management: Collaborate with the Global Finance Director to develop revenue projections, and monitor and report on progress on a monthly basis.
Relationship management: collaborate with the Global Product Director and other leaders to review CRM, donation transaction, and donor data systems.
Establish a regional fundraising framework, and a Fundraising Community of Practice to support Regional Team Leads in their fundraising efforts.
Establish performance measures, monitor and report on results, and support the Department Head of Public Engagement to evaluate the effectiveness of the organisation’s fundraising program.
Assess fundraising risks, opportunities, and trends and provide regular updates to the Board, Executive Team, and staff
Manage the fundraising team budget.
Collaborate with the Director of Campaigns and the Digital Fundraising team on strategies to increase online fundraising and support from small donors.
Engage with other Team Leads and staff to foster a culture of collaboration, diversity, equity, and inclusion across the whole organisation.
Public Engagement
Understand 350.org's history, campaigns, and theory of change, and keep current with basic climate science and policy such that they may represent 350.org's perspective in public.
Contribute towards 350.org's overall mission, including taking on speaking engagements, campaign activities, or other responsibilities outside of standard fundraising functions, as needed.
Direct Reports
The Director of Global Fundraising currently oversees a team of six full-time employees, and additional temporary support during busy periods. Three of these roles report directly to the Director of Global Fundraising.
Required Qualifications
Believes in the importance of 350’s mission and values, has passion for the cause of building a powerful movement to fight climate change and create a more just world.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in increasingly responsible positions in fundraising and nonprofit management.
A minimum of five years of senior-level management experience, leading comprehensive fundraising programs internationally.
Demonstrated success in raising significant gifts - $100,000+ from individual donors and $1m+ from institutional sources; additional experience of raising money for non-tax exempt charities would be beneficial;
Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to inspire and motivate others toward stated goals.
A deep understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion and the ability to work effectively with people from diverse racial, ethnic, class, age, gender, and sexual orientation backgrounds.
Proven track record in diversifying donor base.
Superior written and oral communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Entrepreneurial approach to building fundraising and fundraising programs.
Highly sophisticated relationship-building skills.
Demonstrated mastery of a wide range of fundraising techniques.
Ability to think strategically and creatively.
Highest level of personal and professional integrity.
Collaborative interpersonal style and high level of emotional intelligence.
Demonstrates an awareness of, and sensitivity to, the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds and orientations.
Ability to demonstrate grace under pressure.
Ability to accommodate travel.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Fundraising Executive certificate preferred.

Compensation: The role is at Level 4.2 within 350.org's salary structure. Salary scales can be viewed here. 350.org offers a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes health care for employees and their families, professional counseling services, two all-staff breaks, a 36-hour work week, generous paid time off, and others.
