Design Manager

About Teamtown: We’re a design service that collaborates with large software and service companies, specifically their marketing teams.

We usually work with their lead designer or senior-level marketing member. We collaborate daily through Slack and organize our designs with our clients through an online design portal.

Position Overview: We are seeking a talented and experienced Design Manager to lead and inspire our design team. This role requires a blend of creative vision, strategic thinking, and hands-on project management to ensure the delivery of top-notch designs that meet and exceed client expectations. The Design Manager will play a key role in upholding our commitment to quality while managing the workflow and development of our design team.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Lead, mentor, and support a team of designers, ensuring high-quality design work that aligns with Teamtown’s brand and client objectives while raising our design standards.

  • Creative Quality Assurance: Lead and oversee the design process for projects, ensuring quality standards are met, and designs align with brand and client expectations.

  • Mentorship and Skill Development: Provide guidance, feedback, and mentorship to designers, implementing training and design reviews that foster skill growth and creative confidence.

  • Process Improvement (DesignOps): Work with the CEO to develop and optimize design workflows, templates, and tools that streamline project execution and reduce internal iterations.

  • Collaboration with Head Designer: Work closely with the Head Designer to manage project prioritization, team assignments, and project-specific client needs.

  • Resource Allocation and Organization: Manage team resources to ensure efficient workload distribution, balancing creative quality with timelines.

  • Quality Control and Review Systems: Establish review checkpoints and design guidelines that maintain high standards and reduce the need for revisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Fine Arts, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Proven experience in a design leadership role, ideally in a creative agency or design subscription service.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in graphic design, digital design, and/or UI/UX.

  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with both team members and clients.

  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and a commitment to high standards.

  • Familiarity with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and project management tools like Asana, Trello, or similar.
