Communications Assessments Analyst

Barbaricum seeks an experienced Communications Assessments Analyst to support the US Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) Public Affairs Office and their mission of supporting the Command's global communication and branding strategies, Campaign Plan and the Commander’s vision and intent. This position will be part of a team that will augment key internal and external Public Affairs functions and the Command's remit as a Combatant Command, communicating with key state, national, and international audiences, and developing/executing plans and polices, strategic engagements and brand development.

 

This is a part-time position at 20 hours/week.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis of the information environment and measure the effectiveness of communication campaigns and plans.

  • Provide expertise to ensure digital media strategies and plans incorporate best practices for metrics and assessment.

  • Collect, compile, and analyze public affairs data from sources such as traditional media, social media, and websites. 

  • Assist in monitoring, analyzing, assessing effectiveness of, and recommending adjustments to, approved messaging, communication strategies and integrating capabilities into current operations.

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices for public affairs analysis and assessments.

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance required; TS or above is a plus

  • B.A./B.S. degree in a communications-related field and at least five years of experience in digital media strategy, planning, and assessments

  • Possess formal training and/or education (Defense Information School or an industry certification) in public affairs concepts and techniques to support development of executive level communication planning and strategy products for senior executives in government and leadership positions

  • Experience assessing the effectiveness of public affairs campaign plan execution, to include of websites, traditional media, and social media

  • Experience monitoring and analyzing the information environment, using keyword/Boolean searches and open-source platforms to mine large data sets and extract relevant news items of interest to USSTRATCOM

  • ·Expertise developing assessment plans to include in communication plans, to include crafting S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-bound) objectives, Measures of Effectiveness (MOEs), Measures of Performance (MOPs), and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Experience developing communication analysis and assessment presentations and/or products for public affairs stakeholders and leaders that include graphs, charts, key takeaways, and recommendations to improve communication results

  • Experience using or ability to quickly learn media analysis software such as Meltwater, HootSuite, and/or Sprout Social

  • Ability to take verbal concepts and rough plans to develop into actionable strategies for senior leaders

  • Experience supporting USSTRATCOM or other DoD customers a plus
