Copy Lead (PCUS)

JOB PURPOSE:

As a Copy Lead, you’ll infuse our storytelling with heart & humanity to help our customers save money & live better. Here, you’ll dive deep, from learning the brief like the back of your hand to working with a team of copywriters & other creative partners to send something out into the world that does good in its own small way. 

You will be working closely with Designers, Copywriters, Developers and other parts of the agency to ensure successful campaign deliveries.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working with your team of copywriters, deliver copy that gets to the heart of who our customers are. You’ll cover a range of topics & assets, including paid & owned social channels, site assets, emails, digital ads, store signage, printed mailers, large scale multichannel campaigns, brainstorms, pitch decks, video scripts, & billboards.

  • Provide supervision & development opportunities for copywriters within your vertical/campaigns by editing, sharing constructive feedback, assigning work, & providing support & recognition.

  • Contribute to the development of the creative messaging strategy by keeping up with industry trends, best practices, & the competitive landscape, as well as collaborating with creative leadership, business owners, & other cross-functional stakeholders to translate business objectives into actionable marketing messages.

  • Adhere to, & contribute to the evolution of, the Walmart brand tone of voice & Walmart copy style guide.

  • “Own the room” as a representative of the copy team management by asking the right questions, challenging the status quo, & presenting & defending our work to stakeholders at every stage. 

  • Help maintain style guides by ensuring consistency & quality across assets.

  • Contribute to shaping & evolving the tone of voice & personality of the brand.

  • Oversee activities & assignments by developing & maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, communicating goals & objectives, building accountability, measuring progress, demonstrating adaptability, & promoting continuous learning & improvement.

  • Ensure all internal/agency partner output is in line with overall brand strategy, brand voice, & campaign objectives. 

SKILLS AND PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Creative Writing, Advertising, or related field & 3-5 years of experience in copywriting OR 6 years of experience copywriting.

  • 2-4 years of experience managing copywriters.

Preferred qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience copywriting in a retail environment.


  • 2+ years of experience copywriting for digital properties.

  • 3+ years of experience working for or with creative agencies.


  • 2+ years of experience developing copy concepts/campaigns.

This is a contract role. 

The anticipated salary range for this position is $48.08 - $57.69 hourly. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, expertise, physical location, and organizational impact. This is based on a 40-hour workweek and leveling. Keep in mind, we're flexible.
