German Content Curator (Pedagogy)

Use your expertise in reviewing and adapting course content in our German course to help improve how millions of people learn languages on Duolingo!

Duolingo is looking for a skilled and experienced content adapter and expert in the German language who has full professional proficiency in German, strong working proficiency in English, and experience writing and/or translating content for language learning materials.

This is a temporary freelance position (no benefits included). All work will be conducted remotely and hours are flexible.

• You Will...

  • Help adapt German language learning materials to meet the needs of second language learners.

  • Review German teaching materials for spelling, grammar, style, consistency, and natural language use.

  • Use your German teaching/translation expertise and strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality course content for learners of German.

• You Have...

  • Full professional proficiency in German.

  • Strong working proficiency in English.

  • B.A. in German, translation, linguistics, or other relevant field.

  • Experience reviewing, translating, and/or writing content for German language learning materials/curricula.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Basic computer skills (Google Docs, Google Sheets).

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work at least 20 hours a week.

• Exceptional Candidates Will Have...

  • Experience teaching German as a second language or creating language learning materials/curricula.

  • Familiarity with the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR).

  • Previous experience eliciting high-quality AI-generated (pedagogical) content.

  • Creative writing skills.
