Position Overview

As a DevSecOps Engineer at Element, you will play a central role in continuing the modernization of our federal client’s software development and operational processes. This role requires working with multiple multidisciplinary software development, testing, and operations teams. You’ll be responsible for streamlining software development and deployment processes, ensuring security, reliability, efficiency, and the rapid deployment of software products.  The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of deployment and security best practices, cloud services, and DevOps methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Expand and sharpen Cloud and DevOps skills across diverse technologies.

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the deployment of software and infrastructure.

  • Utilize AWS services to architect and implement secure, scalable and reliable infrastructure platforms for software engineering teams.

  • Utilize IaC and orchestration tools like TerraformWork with tools such as Jira, Git, and Confluence to facilitate efficient project management and collaboration.

  • Proactively explore alternatives and prototype solutions to validate hypothetical architectures.

  • Update existing applications to improve performance and reliability.

  • Collaborate with software engineering and operations teams to integrate DevOps practices into the software development lifecycle.

  • Support engineering teams in cloud environments.

  • Establish a process to proactively control and manage changes to environmentsBe an active participant in program increment (PI) planning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent work experience.

  • Solid understanding of virtualization, containerization, networking, OS, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience with programming languages such as Java or Python.

  • 4 or more years of experience, building, deploying, and troubleshooting containerized applications. 

  • 4 or more years of experience, focusing on CI/CD and CM tools and modern frameworks.

  • 4 or more years of solid hands-on experience with deploying and working on AWS.

  • 4 or more years of experience with orchestration tools.

  • 4 or more years of experience working with agile tools like Jira, Git, and Confluence.

  • A team player; willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies quickly.

  • Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®) 

  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.

  • Must reside in the Continental US.

  • Depending on government agency, specific requirements may include public trust background check or security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Past development experience, specifically web application development.

  • Experience at CMS or in the healthcare industry.

  • Previous public sector consulting experience and understanding customer needs.

  • Should have a AWS certification or willingness to get certified after joining Element 

$80,000 - $185,000 a year

The likely salary range for this position is $80,000-$185,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
